I had chlamydia a few years ago, for at least 7 months..
I'm so worried that is the reason for not conceiving yet!

Has anybody out there had chlamydia for a significant time but still conceived? I need my spirits lifted a little. I'm worried one bad decision has ruined my life!

I can't help with any success stories because I've neither had chlamydia nor gotten pregnant, but did you get a HSG before you were prescribed clomid?

From what I understand, chlamydia affects fertility by scarring the fallopian tubes so that no egg can get through to be fertilised. If you've had a clear HSG then that should mean that having had the disease in the past isn't what's causing the problems.

Good luck!

What is a hsg? My specialist knows I had it and I had a few tests done.

Oh I just googled it- no I haven't had a dye test done yet- I've only had a pelvic ultrasound and a blood screen for pcos (which showed traits but not enough to say for sure)
The dye test will hopefully be done in February after my next specialist appt...

I had chlamydia back in 2009 - just before ttc. It was shocking because I had no symptoms at alll. the first thing I thought of of was DH cheating on me. I confronted him about it and it turns out he had noticed some strange symptoms in himself for years (itching etc) before we met, but never bothered to check it out. He's not the type who likes going to the doctor. Anyway, I was really upset, especially after reading about untreated chlamydia and PID complications. But I got checked out (ultrasound) and everything was fine - no complications! whew! And I conceived shortly after that - on Clomid ( I ovulate regularly but have polycystistic ovaries).

What did your ultrasound say? I think they can usually pick up uterine abscesses on ultrasound, and also if the fallopian tubes look inflamed. The HSG test would be more accurate in diagnosing fallopian blockages, though, but did the ultrasound check out okay?

No problem with ultrasound and I'm on clomid but ovulate regularly anyway so hopefully my story will be like yours! You've made me feel much better. I really don't want a hsg done it sounds so painful!

I'd say get the HSG asap and it will show any blockage if any. I had my HSG showed bilateral blockage (both tubes completely blocked) I went for a lap/dye surgery....no blockage at all. Its your best bet for any unanswered questions.

I had it back in 2004 and conceived in 2007. Ttc#2 and doctor may think I have some blockage. Even though my hsg was clear he thinks I may have scar tissue. Going to have lapro surgery in January probably once I find out how much it costs after insurance.
