Hi there. I'm 2 weeks pp and had a small episiotomy and stitches from that and from a manual placenta removal.

Its healing well - but nobody in hospital or midwives have mentioned or not whether its ok to have a bath? I LOVE lush products and just aching to get into a bath full of lovely big bubbles!

Any ideas?

Thanks ladies xxx

Have a bath it will be lovely.. At first I avoided bubbles in the bath and opted for tea tree oil or lavendar for the healing properties.. One or two of them I then had some badidas which is the most devine thing in the world! x

I was told that baths are good, but to avoid using too many products until the cut healed. However, my midwife did recommend putting in a few drops of lavender oil to help healing. It's really relaxing too :-)

I was told baths are fine but avoid too many products and just stick to a few drops of lavender or tea tree oil until the stitches have healed and make sure you don't soak for too long to avoid weakening the stitches. xx

No-one directed me either way in hospital. My mum told me she had been encouraged to take at least 1 bath a day after having me. So i did, with no bubble bath etc...just lay and soaked...it eased the pain and tightness soooo much and all seems healed perfectly at 5 weeks PP x

I was told baths were fine. And I had lots, about 3 a day but my episiotomy was huge! I didn't have any bubbles for about 2 weeks x

seriously???? all the midwives told me to get in the bath with lavendar oil and to put it in their words I was black and blue - so you will be fine! :) It's the only time I wasn;t in pain

I was told not to because it makes you wetter & therefore will take longer to dry which can cause an infection. I was told to simply use cupped hands in the shower but if I really wanted a bath to let lots of air get to the stitches after to make sure they dry properly & air will help them heal.

I was also told to do lots of pelvic floors as it brings blood to the wound helping it to heal.

I followed thus advice & mines healed brilliantly. Could pretty much forget I had stitches from about 2 weeks pp & I had a second degree front to back perineal tear.

Funny all of the different advice out there. My midwife told me to have a warm bath daily with nothing in it. Been doing this daily which is lovely (so need my baths!) but had been wondering when I could pop the bubbles in. Think I'll wait another week or so...

Yeah it is odd isn;t it. Is it in different countries? I was told by all my midwives and a nurse and HVs to bath with lavendar oil and to let it air dry which I did. It took a while to heal but that was me because it over healed itself. I loved my baths!
