Hey guys! I found out on Sept. 29th that I was expecting and around 5wks. At 7 weeks I started bleeding and went to the emergency room. They said my cervix was still closed and to call my doctor on Monday morning. I called and was sent for bloodwork. On Saturday my hcg was almost 19,000. On Monday (at 7w2d) it had only went up to 24,000. This concerned them so I went again this past Monday for another round of bloodwork and when I called for the results I was told that my hcg had dropped from 24,000 to 22,000. I was placed on progesterone suppositories and am being retested on Friday morning. Anyone else experienced something similar to this? I am hoping for the best as this is our first try having a baby and really want everything to work out but I can't help but prepare for the worst...

Any insights or stories you can share? Thanks!

Hi there, I'm really sorry I cant help you but wanted to say i'm so sorry you're going through this worry. I hope it works out good in the end. please let me know how you get on xx

hi hun im really sorry i have no help but i wish you a healthy pregnancy!

I am very much surprised they didnt have you in for a scan yet. At 7 weeks you can see the baby and heart beat and scans are better to tell whats going on than betas unless there is nothing on scan then betas are more reliable. I would ask for a scan.

I had an appointment for next Thursday on the 1st. I'm hoping they think everything is ok and just want to try everything possible before they gets in there to have my ultrasound...

I hope it goes well! I had bloods that were up but had a slight drop at 6w3d. I know its not in your time frame. That pregnancy turned out to be a blighted ovum! Any drop that i have heard of hasnt turned out well. Only if there were two babies and one had passed and the other is thriving there will be a drop then it will keep rising.

I read that starting around 8 weeks, your hcg typically will possibly decline before evening out for the rest of the pregnancy. I should be about 8.5 weeks, and hcg went from 36,000 to 35,000. I'm trying not to worry. I've had scans and it appears I'm somehow (even though I was taking ovulation tests etc) less far along than I thought. A week ago they saw a yolk sac, the week before they saw a gestational sac. I'm going in again today because I demanded another u/s, saying a prayer we see a fetal pole. I think everyone's body is different, and hcg numbers don't always tell you what's going on.

Well I'm relieved to find that I'm not the only one this is happening to but I am also so sorry that you have to go through this also. :( but ill keep adding to this and please keep me informed on how you're doing...

it's good they placed you on progesterone due to the bleeding however testing HCG or making assumptions based on them after they have reached 10,000 is inaccurate...they should simply do an ultrasound...after certain point HCG does not double or raises as it does in the first 5 weeks or pregnancy...this is a common mistake done by many many Drs and clinics.

That's what I thought. When I had it done at 7 weeks it was 19,000 and from what I've seen on some other posts that number was relatively high compared to the others I saw who weren't even at 1,000 yet. I keep hoping they will do the ultrasound and maybe this week will be my lucky week and they'll just do an ultrasound. :) thanks for all of your input, everyone! I appreciate it.

I would insist on a scan and no more blood draws unless you start bleeding again. Its just so worrisome!

It is...I have went almost two weeks not knowing how the baby is or if there is still a baby. There is no way I'm letting them not do an ultrasound next week...if they refuse it ill switch doctors...
