HCG rise 1wk after mc?

Hi all, above all I'm a realist so I know this isn't a viable pregnancy, last Wednesday an internal scan showed an empty womb and my HCG was 38 at 6wks past LMP, I was bleeding and it continued for a week, EPU wanted another preg test a week later to show no hcg left, it was still positive 8 days after mc, today my hcg is 43.1. I'm in no pain and feel fine.

Why would hcg creep up after a mc? Does anyone know x

HCG levels do tend to bounce around a little bit as they drop.

Hi, first I just want to say sorry you are going through all of this. The only thing I can think of is an ectopic. I don't want to scare or worry you, but, the only time that I can think of when HCG goes up like that is an ectopic. What is your doctor doing?

Also, if you start to feel any severe cramping etc... contact your doctor immediately.

Thanks Kiki and jparr, I didn't realise hcg could bump about I thought either up or down so that's comforting to hear, as the alternative of an ectopic would be horrible. I'm in no pain, no bleeding, I generally feel fine!

I totally had the same thing. My hcg dropped to 9 and then I miscarried and 2 weeks after i stopped bleeding I peed on a stick to make sure it was negative (at the request of my doctor) but it came up positive. She said it was probably a faulty test or something because my numbers were so low before the miscarriage but when I got my blood results back it was at 17. I knew I hadn't ovulated again and it wasn't another pregnancy but it was weird.

My doc got me in and did an internal scan. I guess some cancers can start after m/c so any weird hcg MUST be checked out. They sent all my information and tests to specialists and I was fine. Hcg dropped to 2 a week later.
