So Thursday the 6th of June me and partner made our way to the hospital for our elective section, I was terrified and so nervous after having an emergency section with my first.
We got to labour ward whih was super busy, and it hit 1pm and they told us that too many emergencys so we wluld be moved to the following day. We left upset but completely understood. As im allergic to latex I have to be first in theatre as they have to be rested overnight.
So on to the 7th, we arrived once more at early hours and got taken through to the recovery room, scrubbed and ready to roll, we were told that a lady needed the theayre and theywere doing everything they could. By this point we were completely deflated. But the staff were unbelievable and managed to get a theatre in the main hospital, so off we walked through the hospital , I had the top anaesthetist as the nurse put it he was 'staff's choice'.
So 10.45 I had my iv inserted, and had my spinal which I was super scared of, but it was not that bad at all. So lay on the table, waiting for my partner I felt extremely sick, fine was given meds and the sickness went away. They started to cut into me, and all of a sudden my head felt like it had been smashed with bricks, I went to tell partner, but couldn'talk, he told the anaesthetist that something was wrong and I couldnt respond to anything but could hear evrything.
The emergency alarms were pressed, I heard baby cry and partner get thrown out of theatre and then I was put under general anaesthetic. Baby was delivered at 11.29am, and taken to partner. He was told that they didnt know what had happened or if id come round okay and responsive. Cue partner thinking I was dying and holding on to our baby boy for dear life.
I came round at 2.20pm with every recollection of what had happened, the surgeon was shocked that I could recall each detail, I finally got to hold my little man, Travis James 8lb 5oz. He is beautiful, I spent the night in hdu, and was on obs every 30 minutes. Ive managed to breastfeed him, and got taken up to the ward on the 8th, im still really sore and I had a wound drain in which hurt like hell to remove, I screamed.....loudly!! But all seems fine.
We will never know why what happened happened but all I can say is im thankful for us being moved to the 7th as icould have lost my life without the staff we had.
Were home and slowly recovering now, but I know there will be no more children for us, I couldnt ever go through that again......
