Hi ladies,
I was due on the 1st April. Measured 8/9 weeks throughout my pregnancy, scans showed big baby, everyone always told me not to believe scans as they're normally wrong...
Well.
3rd April, Wednesday, 10:15 am my waters went, contractions came about 20 minutes later, fast and sharp. Was rushed to hosp as there was meconium in my waters.
I had a drip to enhance contractions & was 4cm's by mid-day. I had Gas and Air up until 2pm, by this point I was in agony so cried for an epidural. Within 10 minutes it was effective, and I didnt feel any contractions for about 3 hours.
At 6pm, i had gone to 6cm's, but my son was becoming stressed and his heart rate was exeralatting. They said if I wasn't 10cm's and 'healthy' by 10pm then we were going to theatre.
By 10pm, I had progressed to 9cm's but my Son's heart rate had stabalised at 210bpm. My heart-rate was dropping, as was my blood pressure. So Emergency c-sec it was!
I don't really remember much of my birth experience, and the first time I was 'alert' was when I heard him cry when he came out of me. I'm doing well, i'm recovering, enjoying being a mummy, but it was a matter of life and death so I'm happy that the medical team chose the right solution.
I was 10cm's on the theatre table however, my son's head had been wedged in between my pelvis and there was a blockage (or something lol). He was back to back as well.
The 8/9 week measurements and big baby scans were true...
My son, Tyler Matthew Smith, was born on Wednesday 3rd April, at 22:51 pm, weighing a healthy 10lb 2oz's!!
