So yes, 2nights ago my 5month old realised he could roll.over those 2 nights ive found him on his belly, sleeping with his face down, nose and mouth buried in his matress, although some how appearing to breathe fine.

I dont have a problem with him on his belly at his age now,i do have a problem with him sleeping face down though!

ive tried moving his head to the side,he turns it back:shrug:

anyone elses baby doing this??

Myles has done this for the last 2 weeks. TBH I just let him get on with it. Worrying about it isn't going to change it - if he wants to sleep on his belly then he wants to sleep on his belly. Myles can't roll from belly to back yet though, so we have the odd time where he wants to get back and can't, but in general we don't bother. We just always make sure we put him down on his back though. Saying that, we do have an angelcare movement monitor so I might feel different if we didn't have it. If you are worrying and don't have one, maybe it's something you could invest in to put your mind at rest.

my husband doesnt think theres any need for a movement sensor, why is it only us mummies worry??. the only thing i have limited success with is by strapping his blanket down over him with the sides really tucked under the mattress. sometime it keeps him in place and sometime not:shrug:

Oh dear, J does the same except he hasn't learnt that he can sleep on his belly yet :dohh: He manages to accidentally roll and it wakes him up and he lies there playing instead.

Amyface, im looking at the angelcare movement only sensor, do you know if the mat covers a fair bit of the mattress?? as bailey moves around the cot a fair bit

It works fine in his moses basket at the mo. To test it, we only have to very lightly touch the mattress and it works. We haven't moved him into his cot yet but reviews I read beforehand were that it was more successful in cots than moses baskets so I imagine it will be fine :) You just increase the sensitivity so that it works in all four corners of the mattress - definitely the best thing we've bought for him.

My Lo tries to do this, I tuck him in so tight he can't roll. I tuck the sheet under the mattress over him then tucked under on the other side x

My son does this, he started as soon as he turned four months and he literally will sleep with his face into the mattress. We have the Angelcare movement only monitor and we use it in a cot bed. George moves to the very side of the cot to sleep and it still works fine. It is the same one I used with my daughter and we didn't get any false alarms until she was about 8 months and started sleeping squashed right into a corner of the cot.

Leo has started doing this too. As for the Angelcare, we only have a single mat in the cot bed, and it has gone off a few times, as the above poster said, he squishes himself to the furthest edge of the cot.

Mines being doing exactly the same! I used to worry so much and was always waking up to check on him and turn him over, only for him to roll back almost immediately and bury his face. Now we have an even big worry..he's just started to crawl and the second he begins to wake up he gets on all fours and he's away! We've been co-sleeping so I've put pillows under the sheets all around the bed. Think it's time for him to move into the cot.. X

I was reading that sleeping on their tummy is ok if they are over 6 months? I think it's before when they're not as mobile where it can be a hazard. Who knows? Babies know what they want :)

hiya i use the angelcare and works fine in the cot it has gone of once or twice but thats coz my lo likes to hold her breath we just put ours in the middle of the cot and has worked so far.x

Thanks all for your replies, took me a while to catch up,
ozzie, i dont mind that he wants to sleep on his tummy, its the burying his face clean into the mattress that worries me!:dohh:

Anyway, ive managed to pursuade my husband to get the anglecare movement only sensor, so im just waiting for it now. thanks for the replies!
