Hi girls. :) Just curious if anyone knows or has experience with this.....I'm wondering if 30 weeks is too early for my little guy to already be head down? For the past week or so I feel his hiccups always in the same spot, and keep feeling hard spots (back/bum) in the same spot. So I feel like he hasn't moved much. Does this mean he's already head down, and if so, will he stay that way?

I had a 3D ultrasound on Tuesday and my baby is head down, too. Doctor said perfectly normal at this stage. They said most likely baby will stay that way but there is a very small chance baby could still turn but unlikely.

My baby was head down at an u/s at 27 weeks and has not moved from that position since (12 weeks later). I feel his butt in the same general area all the time, he just loves it where he is. It is completely normal for your baby to be head down and hopefully he will stay!

Its not too early. It usually happens between 30-35 wks. It's not uncommon that they are head down earlier, but can also change at any time.

You can always ask your dc next appt, they can usually tell by feel.. I wish i could, lol!

I felt a really awkward twist the other day, but didn't think it could be a flip, but a twist inside. I'm gonna bring it up and ask, my son had the cord around his neck, this is why i'm concerned :/ maybe she just flipped already too! I'm feeling alot of dragging across the top of my stomach that feels just too thick to be an arm, if you know what i mean. But movements across and too far to be just a head or butt! Lol!

Thanks girls. :) Didn't realize it was common to go head down this early. Pretty cool! Although, I guess 30 weeks isn't really all that "early", is it?! :haha: If he is, I hope he stays that way! I'll definitely ask my dr at my appt next week.

my lo was head down at 27 weeks. they made it clear that he still has plenty room to turn and will until about 35 weeks.

My baby was head down at a ultrasound at 29 weeks and hasnt turned back since! I thought she dropped about 31 weeks and when i had a scan yesterday at 33 weeks they said she has and is partially engaged.

The registrar at the hospital said that some babies get into position early and stay there a long time, others can not do it till labour, it really varies!! And its not necessarily a sign baby will come early!

I was fine with baby being head down, but i have to say it hurts now she is engaged due to all the pressure etc.

Having said it doesnt mean they will come early i am really hoping for 37/38 weeks given she is already estimated to weigh 5.7 pounds based on her growth scan at 33 weeks!!!

xx

My boy was head down at 28 weeks and has pretty much stayed that way. One morning a couple weeks ago I woke up to his hiccups up high but he gradually made his way back to head down throughout the day...

My baby is head down right now (31 weeks) and has been since 26. I know this because of emergency scans I've had at 26, 28, and 30 weeks :)

My baby has been head down the whole pregnancy. She just prefers it that way I guess. I asked my doc and techs is this was OK and have been told babies do what they want and what is most comfy for them. I went in this week and was told that my cervix pain is because baby has her head right on my cervix. So babies do what they feel is best.

I had an ultra-sound at 30 weeks and her head was down. Once it's down it's rare that they move out of that position. Something about the head being the heaviest part.

Same here. I heard it's gravity. The head gets heavier and its easier and more comfy for them to be head down.

Mine's been head down since week 29. He hasn't budged since. The doctor said there's a slight chance he might move, but she would be surprised.

My first three were all head down on the 20 week scan and stayed that way until they were born.

I am the opposite to you, my 4th baby was breech at 20 week and at the 28 week appointment and I have been trying everything I can to get him head down and worrying what is wrong with him!!

Funny how we worry. I would say head down is perfect. Send some head down dust my way PLEASE!

My LO was breech until 29 weeks, midwife says she's flipped now and I hope she stays that way (especially as she's on the large size and I don't think I'd be allowed to deliver a large breech baby naturally)

Pretty sure my troll is head down now (28w), because for the past few days the kicks have been high and the little pump punches have been low.

He's actually peddling at the bottom of my ribs at the moment :p

Mines been head down since at least 25 weeks :)

I think it's normal. My baby is head down now, and has been at his last three ultrasounds (which were at 21, 27 and 28 weeks).

My baby girl has been head down since like weeek.....23? I had an ultrasound at week 24-25 and she was head down. Ever since she has stayed that way. :D

I think my little munchkin has his head down. He gets hiccups regularly and they are always low.. He has been like this for the last week. Plus he thinks its great fun to kick mummy in the ribs.. on both sides as well..

I'm not fussed as I have an AP and haven't really been feeling much kicking. But like previous posters have said they can flip at anytime even in the last week xx
