i have them every single day, and the doc said im only allowed panadol, and they dont do anything to rid of the pain. so what do i do?:baby:

I can really sympathise with you on this one. I know you can take paracetamol, but it irritates my stomach and to be honest I'd rather not take anything IYKWIM. I had a corker of one last night and it's only just fading leaving me feeling groggy now. I use that 4Head stick which takes the edge off them and allows me to get some rest which also helps me. x

Try putting something cool or warm on the back of your neck you will need to try both to see which works for you when i was preg i had awful headaches and a flannel dipped in cold water on the back of my neck really helped. Drinking tea with a good squeeze of lemon in can help as well.

I remember reading somewhere that if you have headaches every day (and I'm talking about non pregnant people BTW) and take pain killers every day, that the painkillers are often the cause of the headaches. If that's the case with you, then perhaps they will get easier as you take less painkillers during your pregnancy. A cool flannel on your forehead may work, and also some relaxation techniques.
Sorry I can't think of anything else, but I thought it was worth mentioning - it may help later anyway!

You can actually take cocodomal short term until 3rd tri, I did as I suffer with chronic daily headache.

Its called a rebound headache. I have had them too, normally on proper meds for headaches but cant whilst preggers. Its so hard when the doc tells you to stop taking them as it can cause the headache when you have a busy life. When I was being treated for that I was able to take diazepam and amitriptaline but obviously cant do that at the mo.

I don't have any advice but I feel for you as I'm suffering with this too :-(

I've tried taking paracetamol but to be honest they've never really worked for my headaches whether pregnant or not. Ibuprofen normally does the trick but we're not able to take those so I'm just plodding on with them.

Will try some of the advice on here though x

Ibuprofen is safe in the 2nd trimester only.

Honestly it's safe in the 2nd tri? That's made my day  x

My MW said its perfectly fine in the 2nd trimester, but potentially harmful in the first and third! It's printed in the booklet she gave me also.

Have you had your bp? and eyes checked? eye sight can change during pregnancy (which is why they normally don't give you sight test when pregnant).

Also try and keep hydrated - lots of water! someone on another post on her said lack of calcium can cause headaches... hadn't heard that one before.

Also those cool head strips are fab - especially if you put one on before bed (unlike a wet flannel they stay in place) boots and asda do there own brand which are just as good as the named one they advertise on tv.

After cutting caffeine I was actually amazed I wasn't getting withdraw headaches during the first few weeks of my pregnancy, but I just recently started getting them. I take Tylenol (acetaminophen) which I am told is the only thing I can take for pain, but I think what's causing my headache is my clenching my teeth when I take naps. I have a mouth guard, but when I nap for some reason I must clench REALLY hard because I feel like I've been beat about the head when I wake up from an afternoon siesta.

They haven't gotten to migraine level yet (oh please, dear Lord, don't let that happen) but where they're at now... it's getting to be a bit of a pain (no pun intended)
