Headphones in when baby inconsolable - acceptable or not?

If baby's needs have been dealt with then I'm all for that! I fully Believe babies need to learn to self soothe, and sometimes it's better to leave the situation than work yourself up. I've literally been guilty of having vile thoughts when my son screamed and screamed as a baby and remember sitting on the other side of the door crying myself out of pure frustration! So yes. Headphones are ok by me! It will take u back to zero :)

I would go so far as to say it's not just acceptable, it's bloody brilliant.

However, don't stress too much that your baby is 'bound to' scream at some point. I'm six weeks in and my baby has never let out more than a couple of 'WAH' cries in a row when I am holding him. If all their needs are met and they just want mummy, then they calm down really fast.
