So i just heard this name on a contestant on a game show & thought "Wow! That's pretty!" OH wrinkled her nose when i said it -- but i think if i fall in love with it, i could convince her! I'm just not sure what i think. Part of me loves it -- but part of me isn't brave enough to use such a unique name, lol.

Leilani

I looked it up online & it means "heavenly" in Hawaiian!

What are your honest thoughts & opinions??

It's pronounced "lay-lon-ee" -- is that how you would pronounce it if you saw it?

I think its sounds lovely and i would have pronounced it like you said it is pronounced

I really like it . It was a name I mentioned to OH when we were going through the name book but he said no as its the name of a Page 3 pin up girl here in UK :growlmad:. It didnt go too well with our surname anyway, too many 'L's . xx

It's very pretty!

My first thought when hearing / seeing it was of those Leylandii trees though, but that's just me!

Very nice name - I think I'd automatically pronounce it Lay-Lah-Nee but then perhaps that's how it would sound in British-English - in fact I'm sure there's a model somewhere wit that name and that's where I've heard it : )

Thanks -- glad to hear people are liking it! :happydance: I g**gled it & pics of some sexy women came up but that's ok -- models, actresses , & such usually give themselves pretty names -- so that's a good thing in my opinion!

OH has her heart set on Liliana, which i love too -- just think maybe Leilani would be better since it's similar but alot less common than Liliana/Lily

I'd pronounce it lay-lar-nee but love your version too. Love the name!

I never heard that name before, but I like it:thumbup:

You pronounced it perfectly to me:flower:

It is pretty, but like the other girls, i'd pronounce it lay-lah-nee

in the uk we say lay-lar-nee and not lay-low-nee as that is spelt different to us!
but  very pretty name, reminds me a bit of lorelei (lor - rel - lie in the uk anyways can also be pronounced lor-rel-lee) for some reason lol suppose its the lei bit at the end. xx

I think that is the same way i'm pronouncing it too -- i just wasn't sure how to write it out, lol.

I think this name is sooo pretty! I had OH come on here & see that everyone else is liking it too! She has her heart set on Liliana tho, so we will have to see!

what about comprimising slightly and changing liliana to liliona (lily - o - na) ?? its an idea and makes it different from the popular 'lily' type names. im quite liking liliona now lol. xx

Lol -- thanks Loola -- I think i'm starting to prefer Liliana over Leilani -- so OH may win. Both are gorgeous names though! Now we just need to catch that little beanie!

I have heard leilani before and associate it with Hawaii/pacific Islands.
Lillianna is a lovely name and has no hula associations:thumbup:

One of my good friends was born in Hawaii, and Leilani is her middle name. I think it's really pretty. :flower:
