I'm wondering if anyone can help.
Leo had a hearing test 2 months ago under the neonatal team. He was very distracted and kept "cheating" so it wasn't really conclusive. They did say there was evidence of glue ear, but put it down to teething.
Today he had a hearing test under the community health service team, he heard very loud noises but didn't do too well otherwise, they seemed concerned and when she had a look in his ears/did the pressure test, she said it was very "wiggly" as she'd expected and it indicated glue ear. She said it was a flat line, rather than having a peak, in both ears.
She then went on to say she was going to rush a referral through to the ENT department at the hospital and started talking to me about gromets. To be honest it all went over my head, I don't really understand it all. I've tried Googling (I know....) but I don't really know what I'm looking for if that makes sense. I felt daft asking if it was a bad case, so didn;t..
Anyway, his notes say,
Levels raised on both sides, 65db. Tymps flat on both sides

I can't understand why I didn't notice if there's a big problem.
One confused mummy.. does anyone know anything about this?? Thanks in advance.

I don't know a lot hun, but I do know that NDCS (National Deaf Children's Society) are a really good resource for parents with children with a newly diagnosed hearing loss (both perm and temp) I suggest you have a look https://www.ndcs.org.uk/family_support/0_to_4_years/index.html and call the helpline for advice and support...

Hope that helps...

Just realised that you have to sign up as a "member" to read that stuff... don't have to pay for it though. Do PM if you have questions. I may not know the answers, but I work for a National charity working for people with hearing loss and may know where to find answers.

Oh Leo, your poor mummy!!

Harry has failed 3 hearing tests now, each one seems to be getting worse as does the glue ear and at the last appointment started talking about hearing aids!! I havent seen the notes from his hearing tests, but will see if i can get a copy.

you know what, i dont believe them. Harry is scared shitless of the hoover, can hear a key going in a the door and listens to everything i say (well apart from no)

How do you think Leo is? Does he responsed to different noises at home? We cant always believe what doctors tell us xx
