Mine was 150 and now has settled at 140 at 21 weeks and Twirp is a girl.
This has been pretty much 100% disproven.
The only theories that have stood the test of time are the skull and nub theories.
It does hold true for some people, but it means nothing. The heart rate is more dependent upon gestational age, mom's activity and anxiety or state of relaxation, and baby's activity. Even if baby is completely still, he or she may have just discovered they can wiggle their fingers, and this excites them and speeds up their heart rate...it doesn't mean it's one gender or another.
Apparently the heartbeat theory only bears more weight during labour
My LO HR is always around 155-160 and she's a girlie!! x
