Hi there 3rd trimester mamas!

I'm in my first trimester at the moment but wanted to ask you all a question. I've heard an old wives tale that if your baby's heart rate is lower than 140 then it's most likely a boy and if it's above 140 then it's a girl.

I wondered if any of you that know genders already could share what the heart rate was. Just want to put the tale to the test for fun! :)

Thanks!!!

I found all those old wives tales to be false for me... My boy's heart rate was always over 140 in early stages a lot higher actually... Now it just depends sometimes its under 140 and sometimes over.. Also the Chinese gender predictor said girl too. So I don't believe in any of those, but kind of fun to look at!

Yeah I don't really buy into any of them. I do believ moms themselves have a sense of genders but that's about it. Still fun to think about though! :)

I read somewhere That in the first trimester, that if the HB is 160 or higher, its most likely a girl. If its lower than its a boy. I also read that this is for EARLY PREGNANCY (FIRST TRI) only.

At my last appt, our baby girl's heart beat is 150. Her first appt was at 168.

Think earlier on the heartbeat can be higher whatever but I have found the heartbeat thing true. Callums was always between 130 - 145 whereas this LO is usually between 150 - 160 and its a girl :) xx

All of my children have had the same heart rate - 145. 2 boys and a girl. lol

If the hb is over 140 it means baby is awake , lower than 140 it's resting or sleeping !!!!
I don't think certain genitals can alter heart rates!!!!!!!!

My in laws used to do my head in with this one.... They were do sure they were right about this heart rate theory

My baby boy's heartbeat was 161 at 8 weeks. I knew he was a boy before we found out :) The old wives tales can be fun, but just guesses. I believe women usually know what they are going to have before they find out. :)

My baby's hb was always above 140- usually in the 150-160 range and it's a boy! All of the gender prediction tests I did pointed to a girl, but obviously they were wrong! Fun to do, but definitely not always accurate :)

If the heartbeat theory says lower than 140 is a boy, I don't know how accurate it can be, because my little man had a pretty steady heartbeat between 150-160 range until he got much bigger recently (my midwife says that as babies grow their heart rates slow down so now it's much slower than that).

With DS1, the Chinese gender predictors were wrong, thinking he was a girl (and he's a quarter Chinese!) :haha: :dohh: By heartbeat, his heartbeat averaged 150-160 typically - most definitely a boy and not what the wives' tale figured!

With DS2, the Chinese gender predictors were right (or so we think based off of his parts at the 20w scan). By heartbeat, he's averaging 140-150, which again is proving the wives' tale wrong. We'll see in 5 weeks or so!

My baby boy's heart rate was always in the high 160s during the first tri - it was not an accurate predictor for us!

All of my babies have been over 140 so according to that I should have 3 girls, I'm having my 3rd boy lol!

My sons first heartbeat we heard was 169! Later in pregnancy it would range between 140s-150s. My girl's (this pregnancy) was 169 also very early on but stays at about 150 now at appts.

Old wives tales pointed all girl to me and even a 3 ultrasounds showed girl but I had a little boy.
