Tums is all I'm using right now to soothe it when it happens.
Beyond that, I just try to avoid overeating, avoid eating things that I know trigger it (peanut butter, chocolate, tomato sauce, anything spicy, etc).
I get heartburn the worst at night when I lay down to go sleep, so I've had to cut my food intake off at like 6/6:30 (bedtime is 9:30-10) so that I'm not laying down with much of anything in my tummy. I've also added some extra pillows to the bed so that I can sit propped against them, comfortably, and still get sleep if I need to - because sitting upright is about all that helps at night.
