I think I have started my period but the symptoms of pregnancy are still here and if anything Im getting more! I know that many people don't even know you can be pregnant and have your period and I know those who do probably think it can only be light but I have read of people who have had heavy periods and then carried on to have perfectly healthy babies.

I was just wondering if there is anyone here who has gone through this and if so could you tell me about it please.

Many thanks xxx

This happened to me! i found out i was pregnant originally in early july. 2 days after finding out i began to bleed heavily so assumed I was having a miscarriage. I had no period throughout july or august so i did a pregnancy test, which came up positive in late august. I assumed i must have fallen pregnant straight after my miscarriage since I had heared that you are more fertile at this time. However at my first scan i was told i was 15 weeks 6 days along. this means that what I thought was a miscarriage in july was in fact just a bleed and i had maintained the first pregnancy throughout...so a long story short you certainly can sometimes bleed without losing the baby. Im 18 weeks tomorrow!!

Thank you so much :) I was really worried about it but you have made me feel better now :) thank you x

thats fine sweetie! i know any bleeding is scary...but if you do get anything heavy then you are definately better to get it checked out. if you do what i did and assume you are miscarrying when you arent it can make it very difficult to work out your dates when the pregnancy is confirmed. I now have 5 months rather than 9 in which to sort everything out and i missed my 12 week scan for foetal abnormality coz i was too far along so it does make things harder

If you call your hospitals early pregnancy unit and tell them what's happening they might arrange an early scan for you xxx

The only way to be sure is to make an appointment hun, you shouldn't just speculate on these things in case there is something wrong :hugs: x

Yes definitely get yourself checked out love. It's possible to still have a period throughout pregnancy, but it is also much more likely that the bleeding is a MC not a period :/ I don't mean to scare you, but just want you to be prepared for the worst. How far along are you?? I really hope everything is ok!!
