Hello all,

Just thought I'd say hello. I'm new to this (forum, that is, not ttc).
I've been lurking around for the past few months and have finally summoned up the courage to say hello. We got our SA results back today - 6% rapid motility, and sperm quantity too low to count (what does this mean??? we think it means that there was too little sperm, the doc thought it was too little ejaculate). The doctor was a bit useless and didn't seem to know what all the figures meant and just gave us another little jar to do another test next week.

DH doesn't seem to want to talk about it, and I don't feel like talking to my only two friends who know we've had difficulty conceiving (one is organising her wedding, the other is pregnant after long term ttc, so don't want to rain on their parade).

Anyway, looking forward to chatting with you all, if only for a bit of reassurance and support.

Hi Hun,
How long have u been ttc? I don't know much about what you're going through (ttc 9 months, currently waiting on a scan for missed AF x3) but just wanna say hi and wish u the best of luck x x

:hi:

Welcome!

I can't help at all with the SA results but there are lots of people in here who can (and will).

Best of luck for next weeks tests, I hope you get some better results.

Thanks for the welcome :)

Had CD26 blood test (I have a 31-38 day cycle) and it came back 'negative'. Apparently, that's ok. I'm just not confident of my doc - weren't they looking for 'positive' readings on my hormones?

anyway, the next step was to get DH tested. So at least now we know where the problem is and can maybe address it. GP says to do the second test before he would refer us to a fertility specialist.

Hi
I am new in lttc too!
Did you get a copy of the results or did dr jsut tell you? Our gp said everything was "fine" and when I insisted on getting a copy, I realised it wasn't!

Hi and Welcome,

Is your Doc. a fertility specialist? Maybe its time to move past your GP or gyno, to a reproductive endocrinologist. Have you gotten a referral?

Thanks Bizybee :)

Mrs G - he had it up on his screen and we craned our necks to have a look and memorised what we could. I rmember "6% rapid motility" and "regrettably quantity too low to count".

latestarter - NO! Not by any means - he couldn't be further from a fertility specialist. The first time we went, he said, "well, we first have to see if your husband is shooting blanks *laughs laughs laughs*", and this time, when we got our results, he said, too little quantity to count, so there's not enough. So we asked, is there not enough sperm, or not enough ejaculate? He said, "not enough, you have to fill the tube". So we asked him whether DH had to ejac many times, or just one time, and he said many times, to fill the tube. After googling WHO guidelines, and that 2ml is considered normal (DH >2ml), we decided he didn't know what he was talking about.

I think we'll go back to him again, if only because he said he'll refer us to a fertility specialist if the results came back the same. I'm afraid that if I changed gp, they wouldn't be so quick to refer...

Thanks for the responses! :)

Good Luck Peartree - its hard to get the referral. Hopefully your GP will take it a bit more seriously if your results come back the same.
