Hello all!
After 17 days of vicious contractions I was sent to the hospital for an ultrasound to measure the baby's weight and size. Right afterward they escorted me directly to labor and delivery. They put monitors on my belly and said they were just going to monitor for a while. Mind you, i had been to the hospital plenty of times and I was expecting to go home in about an hour. Well the nurse came in and said, "we're going to move you to room 312 and break your water. you're going to have a baby today." I was in shock but went to the room and started getting settled in. The doctor came in and broke my water. Almost immediately the contractions had gotten 10X worse. My original plan for labor was to go all natural with no drugs or epidural... well after braving the contractions for a few hours i decided that I wanted an epidural. Those things are like heaven. It hadn't been half an hour after getting the epidural that I was fully dilated and effaced and ready to push. And 7 contractions later there was my beautiful baby girl, Avery October-Skye Edwards! 7lbs 6 oz. 20 1/2 inches long. Born on Wed. Nov. 4th, 2009 at 10:43pm.
