Samuel is 9 weeks old and is sleeping beautifully (most nights!) from 10.30pm to 4.30am, sometimes even going until 7am! He naps quite a lot during the day but is awake for a good few hours and is very happy to play and chat/smile. The problem comes around dinner time. He gets very restless and grumpy and even though he is tired he will cry and cry and will only sleep when either my OH or myself hold him! He then will fall asleep for up to 2hrs until we put him down and then he wakes up instantly!
We want to try and get him out of this habit but can't! We have been trying to put him down as soon as he falls asleep on us but he just wakes up and screams - we have tried his playmat, pram, moses basket and cot and nothing works. We have left him to cry for around 30mins (checking him every 5mins) but in the end we give up because he gets so worked up and upset. And then, as soon as we pick him up, he is fast asleep! Aaarrghh!!
So PLEASE PLEASE HELP!! Any suggestions/ideas as to how we can break him out of this cuddle habit would be gratefully received
