Somehow in my sleep I have managed to put too much powder in my sons bottle. Luckily I realised before he had too much...only half an ounce. I gave him some water straight away but Im worried as everyone says how dangerous it is and he is only two weeks old. Feeling like such a rubbish mum, what's it going to do to him? Do I need to ring a dr or anyone? X

Your not a rubbish mum these things happen especially when you are tired. With that little amount he will be fine, don't worry its only at bigger doses such as 5 oz water to 7 scoops of powder and then drinking the lot that it can be a problem and even then its not too much of a problem. X

Thanks hun. I been up all night worrying sick over him. Waited so long to have a baby and now he's here I seem to be buggering everything up :-( x

Big :hugs: He'll be fine with such a tiny amount, youre not a rubbish mum at all!
I found it easier to measure out the scoops into a dispenser for the night/early morning feeds the night before, it was a lot easier.

That's what I did hun but obviously had the whole over both compartments so poor sod had double! I wondered why he was struggling to drink it! He seems ok today though. Just mummy feeling really low :(

Don't worry! As a one off it is fine, i'm sure i've done it before! At the worst he could be slightly constipated but i doubt that would happen with one scoop extra xxx

Ill be doing that myself from now on :)

Sweety don't worry , it won't harm & no doubt ur lo has worked that tiny lil extra amount out of his/her system by now . :) x

I was convinced last night that I'd half killed him was inconsolable...I was up for taking him to a&e I was that panicked. But he seems okay today so I don't feel quite do bad now. Scared the crap out of me though deffo won't be a mistake I make again ... X

oh don't stress- we have all lost count of the scoops at 4 am- where the danger comes in is regularly doing it- some people in the past (my MIL included) would put an extra scoop or two in the bottle to help them sleep longer- other people have to save money put less scoops in so the formula goes further- others have put heaped scoops in because they cant be bothered measuring it out properly. If its done regularly they are either getting too much of some things that are not beneficial (like the sodiums in the formula- totally ok at the levels on the tin- not so much if you are putting more formula in than recommended- every single time) - or not getting enough food to survive.

What i found really helpful is scooping/counting out the formula into a little container so if i ever lost count i could dump the formula back into the tin and start again- then add it to the water.
