Okay, I'm really worrying at the moment... I have a one week old and I left her in the middle of our king size bed for a couple minutes while I went to the bathroom. I thought it was fine since my sister used to do the same with her LO all the time, but when I came back a couple minutes later, she had somehow turned her head into the comforter! I immediately turned her head back and she seems fine, and I will definitely NEVER EVER put her on the bed like that again (I kind of can't believe I even did it; I think the lack of sleep is making me not think as clearly), but now I'm freaking out that maybe she now has brain damage or something due to that incident. I'm crying and freaking out even though my husband says everything's fine. I know lots of moms have accidents like this and everything turns out fine, but should I worry about this?!?

She'll be just fine
:hugs:

I know how you feel though.

Babies are resilient hun
Now I hardly even blink when my 2 year old runs into a wall or bangs his head on the ground.

If her color was normal then she was getting sufficient oxygen :)

She's fine!!! If she is strong enough to turn her head then she would have turned it if she was losing oxygen.

From birth, my LO has LOVED to turn his head into the comforter, blanket, my armpit lol, whatever is close. I try to make him move it but he just moves it right back. Now that he's bigger, I'm not as worried but I used to constantly fight him to not turn his head into stuff

Yeah, her color was just fine. Thanks, that's a good point that I didn't even think about, it makes me feel a bit better.

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm still worrying, but at least I'm managed to stop crying.

It sounds like she's just fine, breathe easy :hugs:!

She sounds fine! If she had been unable to breath, she would have been going a funny colour and been limp.

Don't worry, she'll be fine! She would have been blue if she'd been unable to breathe.

It's sweet how much you worried about this. You're a good mom!!!

And your baby is just fine. If her color was normal, she's fine. A baby's skin changes color very clearly and easily. My daughter stopped breathing as a newborn, and would turn bluish grey, sometimes just greyish pale, within 20seconds. Even with that happening loads and loads of time, she has absolutely no braindamage (ruled out via MRI). So don't stress, your baby is fine and probably likes the feel of something against her face. She might've been one of those babies putting her arms up to her face for comfort in utero. Or pressed against the inside of the uterus.

When mine was a newborn I had him in the infant car seat in the back for a car ride. When I stopped and went to get him out, his head was slumped forward on his chest. I freaked, I didn't know if his airway had been blocked, I didn't know how long he'd been like that. He was fine but it scared me so much, I tipped the car seat back a bit after that, probably not recommended but I didn't know what else to do until his neck got stronger.

I think your at that stage where you over think and worry too much! I went through the same I was worried about everything! Don't worry lo will tell you if they are hurt you will gain more confidence as time goes on x
