Had my 38 week appointment today and found out its very possible that ill have to have a c-section. My baby boy has always measured big so today they took measurments and estimated that he's about 8lb 11oz!! He has not descended into my pelvis at all and I'm not dilated!:( I go back to see my Dr on Monday. He said I have protein in my urine hut my bp is fine. I'm scared and very nervous about a c-section! I'd love to hear stories and advice anyone has for me. I'm a first time mom and would love to avoid a c-section if possible.

i agree i would ask to be induced and try a vaginal birth before agreeing to a section :hugs:

i gave birth to a 9lb3oz baby with no problems :)

I am pretty adverse to doing c-sections because the estimated weight is too big. The ultrasounds are very inaccurate. If the baby is too big it will become obvious in labor. I would ask for an attempt at induction if your doctor thinks you need to be delivered. At least you have a chance at avoiding a c-section. I have been pleasantly surprised on many occasions by an induction that worked a lot better then anticipated.

That being said, if you do end up needing a c-section, they are very safe. The recovery is longer for a c-section but ultimately you have to keep in mind the two main goals of the pregnancy. 1. Keep you healthy 2. keep the baby healthy.

I have a series of videos I took in the operating room explaining all about a c-section. You can see the room, the equipment, etc. There is no actual patient so no blood and guts! I think the unknown is always scarier then the known. I hope this helps.

C-section videos

I was thinking about trying to just be induced first but I heard if you do that and end up having an emergency c section its alot harder on your body and your way exhausted afterwards. I'm tempted to just tell my Dr to schedule me for a c section but I'm so uncertain about it all. As long as my baby boy is healthy that's all that matters to Me. I'll definatly watch the videos just in case! Thank u so much for ur response.

At my 38 week appointment the dr told me that my pelvis looked too small for the baby to fit through and estimated my LO's weight at 9 lbs. One week later I went into labour and it was obvious that she wasn't getting through so I had an emc. My daughter was born and she was 8 lbs 1 oz so it was a lb off. To be honest my recovery from the emc was as good as it could be and I dont think that having an elective would of made a difference and at least I know that I tried. Just do what feels right :)
