Just wondering if anyone has had success with providing a fresh sample on the day of egg retrevial with a sperm count of less than 1 mil /mL (we are at 600,000 per mL now).... They wont freeze any before hand because they said enough wont survive :( But I am worried the fresh wont have enough good ones since the motile count was only 30%... His first SA had rare sperm seen....Any success stories??

Hey MoBaby my OH has a sperm count less than 1million. It fluctuates between 300,000 and 1.1million. It's more than enough sperm if you do ICSI as we are. I just got home from my egg collection and OH produced a fresh sample today without a backup and the scientist we spoke to said it was more than enough to do the job. With the technology these days you don't need many for it to work. Good luck!!!

This is great! Thank you :) I have some hope now.good luck with your transfer and fx for bfp soon!

Hi Mobaby, my OH's samples have always been less than 100,000 per ml and the sample he produced on the day of our ICSI last Feb was no different. The embryologist told us they were unable to find any that were free of defects but picked the best ones to perform ICSI with. We ended up with a single day 5 blastocyst which they put back. Now 20 months later I am sitting here watching my 11 month old son playing infront of me. I used to get fed up reading that 'it only takes 1' but it's true! Wishing you the very best of luck with it x x x

Thank you thank you thank you! That makes me soooo happy!! Congrats to you!

Hi mobaby... We didn't get our bfp, but I just wanted to reinforce that those numbers are fine for ivf/icsi. We have 3 samples frozen as my dh's count is progressively worse. I'm not sure what the one at ER (EC) was, but no reason to suspect it was drastically different from the recent freeze samples. His last 2 of those were 400,000 total count and 300,000 total count respectively. In any case, all of our eggs fertilized beautifully with the icsi even with such low numbers. :hugs:

Thank you for posting! Sorry you didn't get ur bfp yet :( but your post is encouraging and all these posts are helping with me not being so stressed :)

We had to freeze some for back up. In the worst sample they only found 1 or 2 per ml suitable. We had EC last Friday but we had enough from the fresh, the frozen are still sat there. Try not to worry, you really dont need many to do ICSI. Good luck

Thats great news!! FX for your BFP soon! Thank you so much :)
I also wanted to add all the docs communicated finally and now have decided we can try a frozen backup!
