Hi ladies,
I'm hoping someone could give me advice...
My little man has jaundice, he had phototherapy for 24hrs, discharged from hospital but still yellow, and he is very sleepy, esp on the breast.
He hasn't regained his birth weight after 8 days so his paediatrician recommended top up after breastfeeding, so I have been pumping after each feed. But when I give him all breast milk, he doesn't poop for whole 24hrs. I know it can be normal for ebf babies to go without pooping but he needs to poop to get rid of the jaundice!
The other day I gave him some formula because we were out, he did two poops straight away. I tried it again today and same thing happened!
I know if I keep supplementing formula, my supply will drop... I will be devastated if I can't breastfeed him but it seems like there is something wrong with my milk? He feeds every 4hrs and his nappies are always heavy.
I'm seeing the nurse on next Tuesday and his paediatrician the week after, I'm so worried that he hasn't picked up his weight and i will be forced to give him formula
Any advice and experience?
Tia
