I have had some problems with milk supply for a while.. and have been taking homeopathic drops and expressing etc but does not seem to make a big difference.. i have tried supplementing with formula when i can tell my supply is low and my LO fusses and cries cause milk wont come out fast enough.. now when i try and give formula she gags at it and wont take it most times.. i am so worried cause what if i cant breastfeed anymore.. what will she eat?

I have tried 3 brands now.. i am at my wits end tonight as she screamed and got frustrated with boob and then i tried giving formula and she would not take it.. i then defrosted some expressed milk and she took that... any advice??

thanks

:hugs:

Have you tried mixing a formula with your expressed milk and gradually changng?

Are you warming the formula? My LO was incredibly fussy with formula at room temperature - it was simply too cold for her. Once I warmed it up (to roughly body temp) it was much improved.

Your LO will be used to body temp milk and therefore it might be the change that is upsetting her.

Of course if you are already warming it then this advice is useless!!

My little one was the same!! A week ago I could only express an oz or 2 an 2hours and she usually drank 3-4. Anyway my milk got less and less and I started her on formula ( aptamil)
When given this she would gag and spit it out or sick it all back up!! I was so worried she would dehydrate I gave her an oz of boiled cooled water. I have recently been to the doctors and was told to stick to one brand for at least 4 days. She eventually got so hungry she just gave in and drank it. She has now been on it for 3 days and is mo longer throwing up or gagging. It takes persaverance and you will have a hard couple of days but their bodies need to get used to it. She may not drink the whole lot but anything she keeps down is a bonus she will soon get into a routine.
Sorry for essay but hope this helps xx
