We're having some major problems with nappy malfunctions since we moved LO up to size 3 Huggies. He weighs 12lbs, so they should fit him fine, but virtually every nappy ends up leaking - either slowly, so his clothes get damper and damper, or majorly, so that he is literally peeing out of the side of the nappy.

We're pulling the nappies up as high as they will go and fastening them as tight as we can - we're obviously also ensuring his willy is pointing down - but still we're having problems. We've tried Huggies Newborn and Huggies Super Dry - but we get the same problems.

Has anyone got any tips? We've got about 180 Huggies Size 3 in stock, so trying another brand really isn't an option at the moment. There just always seems to be a gap around his legs, no matter how high/tight we try to fit them - but size 2 is too small for him now. We went through 4 changes of clothes today and we've given up now, so he's just in a bodysuit - I can see this being a nightmare when we take him out anywhere. :growlmad:

This is why I dont use huggies! I found I had the same problems with size 1's...had used pampers but then had loads of huggies that had been bought for us so started using them and they were rubbish! Back on pampers now :)

Sorry to disappoint, but all size 3 nappies were a disaster for us. Poo everywhere for a while. Once we moved to size 4, things improved dramatically. Perhaps they aren't absorbent enough for your LO.

We can't use huggies! They've always leaked for us! Pampers, asda or tesco's own are all we use & never had problems with them xx

are you making sure you are pointing his pee-pee down ward before you fasten the diaper.

i was making this mistake when james was a newborn.
I couldnt figure out why he kept peeing out of his diaper.
i thought his diaper was too big so bought preemie.

finally a friend told me to point his penis down.
otherwise it will be pointing up and either come out the sides or the top.

if that doesnt work try a different brand

ETA- size 3 is a little big for a 12 pounder right? My son is in huggies size 2 and he is 17 lb.

We've always preferred Huggies until now. Size 1 and 2 were absolutely fine, whereas size 1 & 2 pampers always leaked for us. That's why we stocked up on so many size 3 Huggies - we have too many just to try another brand. As I said in my OP, we always point his willy down. Size 3 is meant to be 9 - 20lbs, so we shouldn't be having any problems size wise.

We've never found a nappy that will contain his poo - even when he was in the lower sizes it would be all over the place - regardless of brand!

I always know that when he poos he will need a change of clothes and I will be doing the laundry.

My boy is 12 lb and only just in size two nappies but i have found huggis just dont fit him properly, around the leg mainly like you have said. Pampers every time for us.

I think it is just trial and error on how different diapers fit your baby. My baby is 17 lbs and huggies 3's work very well. BUT when he was in size 1's.. huggies had that problem for us.

You'll just have to try another brand and see and try your stockpile of huggies at another time when he grows a bit to fill the gaps. good luck.

our size 3's are listed as being for 16-28 pounds? do our sizes run differently in the US?

Can you not try taking back any unopened packs of size 3s or isit a box? I know boots are good at taking stuff back even with no receipt ..

Which Huggies? The Organic Huggies made Evan so damp, but Superdry are fine xx

Huggies leak for me, find it hard to see them voted mother and baby best from certainly the response of mums on here! x

Huggies have little frills on the inside that you have to pull up. (not sure if you knew that already but it took me ages to work out) But even after I did that I still found they weren't all that good.

Well, we had another pack of huggies newborn, with the new red packaging (rather than the old cream coloured packaging that we were already using) and these are working! They fit so much better than the old Huggies newborn - the elastication around the legs is better and we've had no leakage so far.

We did have leakage with the Super Dry ones though, and these are the ones we've got loads of - but I'll see if they're any better once we're through this pack of newborns.

My LO is 13lbs and we're using Huggies superdry with no problems. Having said that, I don't think they will last her to 20lbs, they feel tight already.

My LO is around 11lbs 12oz and we found the huggies size 3 newborn massive constantly leak everytime he wears one they just seem to have gaps by his legs and bum however huggies size 3 natural fit in the orangey packet fit him really well much more snug around his legs no gaps and no leaks :).

I switched to pampers due to this and then onto morrisons nappies cos pampers smelt funny...he now uses boots or morrisons which are both fab! Boots ones are 3 for 2 at the moment too :o) x

I can post you a couple of size 3 or 4 if you want to try them x
