help me change my current photo!!!!

im trying to change the picture that comes up in my posts and ive tried everything to change it but the old photo thats currently there wont budge. what am i doing wrong. been trying for days now. can someone please help me.

Can you walk me through what it is you're doing?

User CP>Edit Avatar will take you to the page where you change your avatar, at the bottom of this section is the upload option if you don't want to use one of the default pictures.

god im so stupid was doing it all wrong. how did i do it the first time!!!! thank you so much your a star x
