Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site & just wanted to post for a bit of advice. We have been ttc for 2 years & had our first fertility app at monklands hospital yest, we both got bloods done & I had an internal. The nurse thinks there's a possibility I could have pcos but also the lining of my womb is extremely thin, which is worrying me. My gp had already did bloods on day 21 on my cycle which showed I hadn't ovulated & my horomone levels were low. My oh has to do a sample but his app isn't until the 7th of march & apparently we can't make our appointment to see the consultant until he has handed this in, does anyone know if this is correct? The nurse has said the consultant will write to us before hand if there is a problem so does that mean if there is anything in my bloods that confirms I have pcos she would write to ask to see me? Sorry for asking I'm just a bit confused as it was our first appointment so I was a bit overwhelmed with it all.

Hi there. I didn't experience that process but I think each hospital runs differently. Maybe u will find someone that goes to that hosp.
Didnt want to read and run

Good luck xx

Thanks for your reply, I'm just a bit confused with the whole process & where we go from here!

There are lots of options but unfortunately u have to have all the tests first. My oh sa was done thro his gp so luckily we don't have to wait for that. I have had one appt and the next is march 18th for the results of hsg (clear) ultrasound (clear) and day 3 bloods.
Long waiting game. We will then get clomid if there are no issues with day 3 bloods as I don't ovulate regularly I have irregular periods ranging from 32-49 days.
Where abouts are you? Xx

Since coming off the depo I was ovulating every 21 days but for the last 6/7 months its between 21-43 days :( unfortunetly my oh gp isn't as willing to refer him for thing as what mines is & we knew he would need to do a sample when we had our first appointment. How long have you been ttc? I'm from north Lanarkshire, you? Xx

Many Dr's do the 'day 21' bloods on the wrong day by insisting it is done on Day 21 - it should actually be done on 7DPO.

So if you don't O until CD24.... the 'day21' blood work should be done on CD31 for an accurate reading of your progesterone. Maybe while your waiting you could go back to your GP and ask for this to be done again and go when YOU know you've O'd for a truer reading.

As for the SA, our GP ordered his test so we had that done before we saw the FS, March will soon be here, i'm afraid with the NHS everything takes a little while to get done, but the referral SHOULD be able to go in as you'll probably have to wait 3/4 months for the appointment with FS x

That sucks. We've been trying for about 18months. I'm from derby.
R u temping/opk?
Xx

Well we had our first fertility appointment yesterday & they were pretty certain the problem was due to pcos so hopefully we will start to see some progress now :)

Yeah I've been temping & opk some months showing ovulating & some months not :(

How are you ladies getting on? Xx

I'm guessing u have symptoms of pcos then.
I'm 3 dpo I temp and opk. Both confirm ovulation each cycle even tho my cycles r so irregular. Iv just had a hsg so I'm hoping the increase in fertility helps this month xx

i finally (after 4 months of ringing on CD1 to try and get in!) have my follicle scan on thursday :)

Hi, my 1st appointment was spring/summer 2012 and ive just been prescribed clomid again but a higher dose

my GP thought possible PCOS due to long, irregular cycles so had Transvaginal scan (which ruled out PCOS) and DH had SA. We done these whilst waiting for FS appointment.

Had FS appointment and he said do another TV scan as had been a while since the last one and day 21 bloods but do it a week before I thought i would get AF so judged it by when my boobs started hurting as always get this 7 days before, DH had to do another SA.

Went back to FS who said day 21 bloods showed ovulation but borderline. Had to do it again but do it on days 21,28 and 35 and keep going til got AF, got AF day 42. Then had to do blood test on day 3. DH was told to do 2 more SA's 2 months apart.
He said my 2nd scan showed a cyst which could be a sign of endometriosis and as I have long, heavy and very painful periods I also suspected this. For this reason he booked me in for a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and hsg in one under general anaesthetic rather than doing hsg and hysteroscopy as seperate appointments.

I had this done on 4th Jan this year and everything was fine to my suprise, no pcos, endo, cysts or anything.

Had follow up appointment on 25th Jan and last lot of 21 day bloods showed ovulation and day 3 bloods were normal. Last 2 SA's were ok, altogether with the 4 SA's his count ranged from 13-84 million, morphology a bit low on one but high on the others so overall fine

FS concluded I just have long cycles which is a relief but at the same time frustrating!

I now have 100mg clomid to start, whenever AF decides to show (currently on day 53 :( )

Sorry for the long story, just thought it might help have an idea of what to expect, all areas are different though but hopefully you wont have to wait long for appointments!
xx

Hey, i have 6 yr old from previous relatinship.
Been with my partner 3 years.
depo ran out march 2010.
had pcos confirmed october
Had gynae yday. she suspects, as did i from my addiction to BnB and google lol, endometriosis, have to have up to date TV scan and then laparoscopy, so excited -is that weird lol?
It is better to get your fella's semen analysis out the way as obviously no matter what could be wrong/fixable with you, it no good from nhs point of view spending loads on investigations until they know the swimmers are in good form you know? this as per my gp who learnt from a couple who due to his religion he "couldnt do semen analysis" so they sent the lady for every investigation under the sun, bloke finally caved did semen analysis and had no sperm! -what i dont get it why you have to wait until march -is that just nxt appt at hos? my fella had his appt when we had all the snow so had to tuck the pot in me cleaverage and layer up, was weird getting the bus that morning :haha:
best get the results of that and if that ok, there is no delay from the docs etc in getting you checked out
xxxxx

Hi gnome,I was excited about lap too! Felt weird but I was sure I had endo and it would be something possibly fixable, as my previous post says it turns out I havent which really shocked me! Good luck x
