Ive decided to finally stop breast feeding , he usually feeds twice in the night, if i make his bottles up at about 10pm when i go to bed can i just keep them in the fridge and then put them in hot water to warm up in the night ?

How do you do night bottles ?

I usually make formula once a day... in the morning, and this lasts us to the next morning. I keep them in the fridge and heat them up as I need them.

You can keep bm or formula in the fridge for 24-48 hours.

Are you going to use first milk or progress?

If first milk you might be better just making the bottles up with water and then adding the powder once its warmed at time of use but progress milk can be made up 24hrs in advance

its aptamil follow on ??

Not sure about diff between Aptamil and Aptamil follow on, but a good tip I read on here a few months ago is:

1. sterilise your bottles and boil your kettle,
2. put required amount of water in bottle, put teat and lid on,
3. measure your scoops of milk powder out into a separate container (you can get one in Tesco for £1.25. It is about 3 inches across, divided into 3 sections inside for 3 feeds.)
4. when baby wants bottle put your powder into water,
5. and enjoy!

My baby takes room temp formula but you could heat it up whatever way you do it. I like the idea of freshly made up bottles although loads of people seem to make the whole bottle up in advance without probs.

I make mine up in the morning and put them in fridge. Then warm up when needed :)

i use aptamil and i make them up and store in the fridge

i know guidelines say make up as u need them but i am a nursery nurse and we arent allowed to make them up for babies so they have to come premade so she will need to be used to this when i go back to work

Im a little strange...i make 2bottles up before i go to sleep and leave them at room temperature with just boiled water...then when i wake up add the formula and warm the bottle up by placing it in hot water if necessary. Then in the afternoon i make another 2 bottles up for the afternoon and evening and again leave them at room temp and add formula when needed xx

I know with sma follow on milk you can make up a batch 24hrs in advance but I would stick to the guidelines on the tin to be safe x

I use aptimal and I make them up fresh through the day (as maley is quite a sicky baby) and at night we make two bottles (she only wakes once or twice). Keep them cold and then warm them up in the bottle warmer

i make them fresh in the day and in night Harry has 2 4oz bottles. I pre make a bottle containing 2oz of water and 2 scoops and chill in the fridge just before i go to bed. When he is due his feed I top it up with 2 oz of boiled water and another 2 scoops so its the right temp. Health visitor advised it as its safe way to decrease gastroentiritis(sp?).

I take the powder dispenser 2 sterilised bottles and a flask of water to bed, then quickly make them up as and when, Oli used to feed every 3 hours so might have had feeds 3 times in the night, now I give her, her last feed at 10.30pm and she seems to be waking just the once or twice....find its easier to have the water already to hand, its usually cooled down just right by the time she needs it now ......I was told you shouldn't make up formla unless your going to use it within 2 hours, the cartons (which are expensive) you can use witin 24 hours once opened if chilled...dunno what the difference is though!! :)
