Hello!
I used to have atleast 3 day long period. Actually normally first 3 days of heavy flow then really light for the next few days. However I noticed that for a few months now my period has turned into 1 day spotting then heavy flow for 2 days followed by light spotting for a few days. Now this time I had spotting which I didn't consider as CD1 because it was dark and looked like old blood and then 1 day of regular flow not as heavy as usual and then practically nothing the next day just spotting and now on day three again nothing.

Sorry for all the details but I wanted to know if I should be concerned about this? If I didn't ovulate at all (period was a week late) would that cause a lighter flow?

Hi BigFoot, sorry...I really dont have any answers for you, hopefully someone else can help. Some of my cycles are sounding a little like what you have described (except the late part) and I have been a little concerned as well. Some cycles are ok, others are a little depleted. I'm going through FS treatment, so I have just put it down to that for me. Good luck and I hope you get some answers soon. Let us know how you go xo

BigFoot I strongly recommend temping- following the Taking Charge of Your Fertilty method, and tracking online either at ovusoft (the TCYF site) or at the free FertilityFriend. Then you will know exactly when (and whether) you are ovulating. If your period came later and was lighter than you expected, it may be anovulatory bleeding. If you are not ovulating, you could benefit from Clomid. Tracking your cycles will help you identify whether you would benefit from this treatment and may get you treated by your doc earlier.

Thanks! I have tempted a while back and I had temperature rise as well as positive OPK. I also had the day 21 tests done a while back to make sure I ovulated. I will start tempting again. Do u think its possible for me to have been ovulating before and then stop?

Do u think I shd book an appointment with my GP to disucss that and ask them to maybe do another day 21 test?

Hi BigFoot- yep, it's possible to have been ovulating before and then stop, just as it's possible to resume ovulating later. Sometimes ovulation lies outside of our control but sometimes it can be helped along by a super-healthy lifestyle which leads to a reduced BMI- have heard of lots of folks regaining ovulation that way. If you have insulin resistance Metformin can also help and has the effect of improving fertility via improved bmi. Clomid is the drug that is typically used to induce ovulation once BMI / insulin are under control. I would def go back to your GP and ask for a referral to an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist). It's unfair that you've been TTC for 3 years without any assistance / guidance.
