Hi, I am pregnant again after 2 M/C's (Dec and Mar), I am 35 so also had tests carried out for recurring M/C's - these showed nothing.

I am due to have a 6 week scan on Friday, which according to my LMP date I will be 6 weeks, 2 days, but.......
I was testing for ovulation and I know I didn't ovulate until day 23, which I believe is really late in my cycle and I did a few pregnancy tests and didn't get a positive until day 38, even though I tried a few times from day 32...

As I have had 2 M/C's (empty sacs), I am petrified that there will just be an empty sac again!

What would I expect to see at a 6 week scan?
Also, if I am only 5 weeks pregnant - what would I expect to see on a scan?

Sorry for all the questions, I would like to put my mind at rest....

Hi hon, I had a 6 week scan last week and saw an actual embryo with heartbeat in its little sac! I was amazed but apparently they would expect to see that at 6 weeks. 5 weeks is trickier... You may see an empty sac or a sac with a fetal pole but no heartbeat. That wouldn't mean it's all over though - the heart starts in week 6 usually. Plenty of ladies scan in week 5 and don't see much but by week 7 things are looking much better. Good luck!

I had a scan with this baby at 5 weeks 3 days, and all it showed was gestational sac and a yolk sac. I was told it was too early to see anything else and I went back 2 weeks later and saw the cute little heartbeat and fetal pole. I also had 2 m/c's and my midwife keeps on telling me that 3rd times a charm! I went threw sooo many tests and nothing came up. She put me on progesterone starting at 5 weeks and this little baby has made it. We both strongly agree that my body needed a boost of that hormone. Good luck!

Good luck, you'll be okay. I was convinced there would be nothing there at my 6 week scan but there was. X

Thank you Everybody.

I had my scan today, was a little disappointed, all that could be seen was a small sac. But because I ovulated late this would be about right as I would be just under 5 weeks???

They took some blood and the results were:

HCG; 1010
Prog; 71.6

I am having more blood taken on Sunday and if they have increased then I will be scanned again in 2 weeks.

I have also been given Progesterone Pessaries to try to boost things.

Our situations may be a little different, but I had 2 miscarriages in 2011 and I'm now pregnant again and will be 20 weeks this week. I just wanted to give you some hope because after 1 everyone said it was bad luck and it would happen the next time and then when I lost the 2nd as well I thought it was a really bad sign, but now I am feeling confident that I will have my rainbow baby this time

Hi, Congratulations, wishing you loads of luck, you have got past the 12 weeks so things are looking good for you, you must be so happy xx

I did have a second lot of blood tests and HCG had doubled to 2018, so I have a second scan booked for next Thursday where I will be 6w+5d, so should see a little bean with a hb - fingers crossed!!!

I'm only at a 413.99 HCG level and I had to request that. I have suffered from just one miscarriage, and I am terrified for this one. I have been constipated so I'm on lactulose for that and I'm now cramping. I haven't even missed my period yet, which I have irregular periods, it's due on sunday. Do you think this is a by product of the medicine or could I indeed be miscarrying again?

I had a scan at 6+1 and all I saw was a sac and a small yolk. I was terrified as I knew lots saw a heartbeat at that stage. Anyway two weeks later at 8+1 bubs was there, heartbeat, arms and legs starting to grow and all!!!

Thank you, I have another scan booked for next Thursday, 2 weeks after the last scan, so I should definitely see something in the sac this time, am so nervous, still not had any symptoms other than tiredness! So scared i will only see an empty sac again....
(My last 2 m/c's were empty sacs at 8 & 9 weeks).
