Hello ladies....

My baby boy is 7 weeks and ebf. He doesnt have a routine and i feed him on demand but it is definitely less than two hours between feeds. he previously would settle between feeds for a short period. For roughly a week and a half now he has been having random feeds throughout the day (I will do my best to describe) basically he will cry, I put him to the breast then he will latch on and come off and on and off and on and off over and over so it appears as if he is not in the right position (he is though, same as his normal feeds) he then will scream in frustration it seems that he can't get on, so I put him back on and he ferociously sucks for a second or so and then the cycle repeats again. It continues over and over so I take him off and wind him, rock him, put him in his swing or bouncer or just talk to him play with him change him, everything possible and he just screams and screams pulling his legs up on occasions.

It has been random feeds throughout the day and usually only one feed per day is like this however over the past few days he has taken to doing this only on an evening. I am quite sure it's not to do with the letdown as he feeds normally the rest of the time. Today this episode started at 5.45 and only just ended at 10pm.

I'm completely at a loss I am not sure what could be wrong?

Hope I've described it as best I can, could someone please offer any insight.

Thankyou in advance x

I did think it was colic but I just don't know! I feel so confused and stressed now arghhh!!!

:( feel so sorry for him, he's just woken up after half an hour sleep and is again feeding normally.

Mine always did this when he had a stubborn burp-- still does every now and then. I'd have to really work hard to get it out sometimes, too. It was like the burp made his stomach hurt, so he'd try to eat, but eating would just make his stomach hurt worse. :( It stopped happening for the most part when he could sit up on his own and his hula-dance movements would get all the burps out for us.

Yes this was the same with my LO. Also, sometimes he would just get angry and frustrated now and again. Are you observing a pattern regarding when it happens? We noticed that it was particularly likely to happen early evening. If they're tired I suspect it exacerbates the problem. It's difficult to cope with but I just gritted my teeth and tried to be patient. I also found that swapping him onto the other boob helped (even if it wasn't the one he was due to feed from) sometimes helped.
