I want to try lo on a top up of 2nd formula tonight to see if it helps his mammoth cluster feeds that I can't cope with....

Anyway how do I make a bottle!!!

It says boil water and cool for 30 mins - how!!!!

When you add powder to water do you warm it - cool it?? Aaaaah I'm so unprepared and clueless help!!!!

When we were using "normal" formula (as opposed to staydown, which you make with chilled water), we used to boil the water, add the powder and cool it in a jug of cold water. The formula we were using said to cool the water for no more than 30 minutes. I think formula isn't sterile and the water has to be above a certain temperature to kill any bacteria.

It's hard when you're trying to make it as you need it (which is what the tins always say you have to do) if you have a screaming baby waiting for it! It seems to take forever to cool....which is strange because a cup of tea seems to cool really fast if you don't get to it quickly, lol!!

Yep agree with the above ^^^ you can pour the boiled water straight into the bottle and add the formula powder, then cool down in a jug of cold water. Don't use boiled water that has been left for over 30mins to cool as it won't kill the bacteria that may be present in the powder x

How long would you cool it down for in a jug of cold water off the tap?? What sort of temp should it be and how do you test it? Clueless me!!!

It cools down quite quickly as long as the water is really cold. You can test it by putting some on your wrist, but I think it's easier to taste it and feel what it's like in my mouth.

Why dont you just make up your bottles with cooled boiled water, when needed warm it up and add the formula, that is what I do takes all of a minute or two. HV said it was fine to do that! Water does not need to go in the fridge, it can be left on the side.

Squirt a bit on the inside of your wrist to test the temp  x
