Okay, so baby is due in 2 weeks and I am trying to get my head around tax credits! As far as I was aware, I would be entitled to child tax and working tax, but when I went on the 'do I qualify' questionnaire on the HMRC website, it said I wasn't entitled to working tax? Does anyone know much about it?
My partner and I both work 40 hours a week at the moment, and he earns £16,000 a year, and I earn £23,000 a year. He is 23 and I am 26. I can't understand why we don't seem to be eligible for the working tax, though it does say we will be eligible for child tax credits.
Any help would be appreciated. It's giving me a headache!
