my boy is 8 weeks tomorrow and was feeding every 4-5 until about 2 weeks ago, i'm exhausted! he is only taking about 2-3 oz in every feed aswell and then falls asleep. people have advised me ot change him over to cow and gate hungrier milk?

someone help? :dohh:

have you spoken to your HV? My boys are a bit of a sleep nightmare - they are tag teaming me atm. I was advised to give them hungry baby formula for their last feed and overnight feeds from today but they are 11 weeks and i know my HV doesnt adivse it for younger babies.

Does he use a dummy? Have you tried just putting his dummy back in? if he is only taking 2oz then he cant be hungry just got in the habit of snacking - which is exactly what my Fynn did - I dont know how he got out of it tbh my problem is getting them to drop one night feed.

Sorry, am a bit confused with your post.

The title says LO waking every 2-3 hours - I think thats good!! My Anna is now 12 wks and she is still waking me up during the night every 2 hours- she is very restless and throwing her arms around, grunting etc - not actually screaming to be fed.

If LO is only taking 2-3 oz then I dont think you should be putting him onto hungrier milk - pretty sure that is for babies who are drinking loads and still want more. Try keep him awake -annoy him, strip him etc:flower:

My LO is 7 weeks and waking every 3-4 hours and taking 5-6oz, he has only started doing this in the last week, before it was 1-2 hrs. He is eating slightly less now he is getting into a better routine. I'm just personally going with the flow now, yes i want more sleep but just think its not forever and this stops me stressing about it. He is a hungryish big baby but i would rather hold off the hungry baby milk for as long as possible, plus he wont/can't take more than 6oz anyway so i still have a couple of ozs to play with when he is ready!.

2-3 hours isn't too bad, at that stage my DS was feeding every 3 hours. In the daytime I don't think you're meant to let them go longer than 4 hours between feeds - but if he wants to in the night, let him!

At that age Dylan would happily take 2oz whenever I offered it, but would only take more when he was actually hungry. When having such small feeds, hungry milk is not a good idea.

If he's falling asleep during his bottles, he might be getting bored. When I used too slow a teat (TT level 1's being the worst culprit!) he kept nodding off. As soon as I switched to variflow (or you could try level 2) we were back in business. If he has a little more from each bottle, he should go a bit longer between. If you get 3 hours from the start of one bottle to the start of the next, you should be satisfied with that, and if you get 4 think yourself very lucky indeed!
