I'm currently exclusively breast feeding my little boy and have been doing so since he was born but am now desperate to start occasional combi-feeding for the sake of my sanity.

We had an extremely bad start to breast feeding: cracked nipples, ductal thrush, mastitis, the lot. I spent 5 weeks in almost constant pain and would dread each and every feed until, finally, with the help of nipple shields and several courses of drugs, it stopped being a form of torture and I started (almost) enjoying it.

And thank god I did persevere, because in the fullness of time it's turned out that my little boy is intolerant to cows milk protein. We've been prescribed Aptamil Pepti but he point blank refuses to drink it... and from what I've heard, this is the more palatable of the formula available in CMPI.

I've tried giving it cold, warm, mixed 50/50 with BM... and each time he pulls a face like I'm poisoning him and pushes the bottle away.

It's not the bottle, as he'll happily take BM from a bottle.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure I can cope with the idea of exclusively breast feeding for at least another 4 months, then having to provide milk through the weaning period and until he grows out of the CMPI.

My daughter did that. Turned out she didn't like powdered formula. She will only eat the concentrated kind that you add water to.
