Hiya Ladies,

This is the first time I have ever officially been ttc and it's the first ever obk i have done. The first day of my last period was 20th December, my periods are irregular for the most part, sometimes they are every 6 weeks. I really wanted to determine when I would be ovulating, so assuming my periods were regular then I would have been ovulating on January 3rd, that being day 14. I didn't take an obk but we did bd on the 4th. Yesterday evening I have EWCM that was clear and stretchy, I'm pretty sure that it is the fertile mucus, I also had it today. So when I got home today I did an opk and it is positive, but it's not darker than the control line. Please could I have some opinions on whether you think I have ovulated as though it's a normal regular cycle, or I am about to ovulate? Do you think it would be best for me to test tomorrow at the same time to see whether it gets darker? I'm really new to all this so I just want to understand my body. Conscious that I have missed this month as I have only be'd once on the 4th, should I bd today?
Thank you in advance

X

could someone also please let me know how you attach a picture so I can put it on here? thank you :) x

Hi hunni, it's the paperclip at the top, if you can't see it click 'go advanced' i'm new to OPKs too so i'll be stalking xx

Hi, so I'm not an expert but I'll share what I know. I start testing opk from cd 11, and I usually ovulate anywhere from cd 13-15. The test line has to be as dark or darker than the control line for it to mean a positive. Yesterday was cd 14 for me and I tested around 7 pm and got a negative even though I was having ovulation symptoms and I knew I didn't ovulate the day before based on my temps. I thought that my urine could have been too diluted so I checked again around 8:30 and it was for sure positive. So you have to make sure not to drink too much before you test for a few hours. I usually only test positive in the late evening hours. Also this test only tells you if you are getting a surge but will not tell you of you ovulate. You can only know that for sure by checking your bbt every morning.

Thank you Dia, what is bbt? X

basal body temperature. you test it with a thermometer i need to get one really xx

Sounds like you're about to ovulate! You usually have the ewcm first and get a not-quite-positive opk, then the following day you might get the darkest line and twingey pain and release an eggy. So BD toniight! :haha:
