I've just called to book LO in for her second set of vaccinations; she's due next week.

They've told me they can't get her in until 6th March which is two weeks two days over when they're due.

Does this have any implications? All they told me on the phone was that its "ideal" to have them on time but that's the only appointment and I can't take her elsewhere to have them.

I'm just concerned as all her others will be late now too. I don't get why hey don't automatically give dates for childrens first vaccines, they know when they're due!

Sorry if its stupid and I'm worrying over nothing! FTM alert!

Xx

I don't know the answer hun but I'd ring back and make then fit you in! When I was pregnant I needed my anti d shot and even though I rang four weeks in advance they were fully booked, at the end of the day you have to get then at certain times and the midwife stayed late to fit me in.
Then again someone here might know and it might not to important on timings.

Thanks for your reply. They said its because they're down to one nurse, it's just really bloody annoyed me!!

I'm due my smear...they'll probably fit me in December!!

Xx

I hope it doesn't matter as LO has been late for all hers. Due to Christmas and new year they've been couple weeks late. She's getting her 3rd set tomorrow and she's 19 weeks old

I'm fairly sure it doesn't matter if they're not bang on time - I've heard stories of five year olds who were never previously vaccinated getting all their jags done very close together just before school! They wouldn't let any kids get their jags late if it had an impact  there would be a system in place so that everyone got theirs done exactly as stated if it was essential x

We have been late for isaac's second and third set. I tried to ring and book and they said they would send me an appointment, it was two weeks late. The nurse told me it doesn't matter if they are a bit late but they can't be a day early.

I dont think it matters too much hun as long as they're done... when my DD1 had a cold, i called up and was advised to push the appointment back by a week.

I then panicked and was told it didnt matter as long as LO was vaccinated and kept her vaccinations up :hugs:

Thanks everyone for reassuring me, you've made me feel much better. Probably unnecessarily worrying! X

My surgery only does them once a month so they could end up being given virtually a month late if they hold the clinic when she's 7 weeks and 6 days old. I'd have thought if it was a problem they'd make sure they held the clinics more regularly.

Same happened with me. They said there's no ill affects from having them late.

my lo had his late, due to him being unwell.some surgeries on hold vaccinations a few times a month some people choose to vaccinate later so i wouldnt worry xx

I've had the same this morning from my surgery, my LO's 3mth vaccine will be 6 weeks after her 2mth ones.

It doesn't matter :) Charlotte had her 4 month vaccines at almost 5 months and then her 6 month ones just a few weeks later. She's fine.

Our surgery's nurse who did the jabs was off ill for a while so ours ended up being really late. What should have been 8, 12 and 16 week jabs were done at 10, 20 and 26 weeks. And after going through them I'd actually prefer them to be delayed again for any future babies we might hopefully have. Side effects like irritability and a temperature are that little bit easier to deal with when your baby is a little bit older (and you have more experience!).
