Basically i live with my dad still as i cant afford to move on my own or get a council place at minute, i love having him here to help me and stuff but now masons alert and babbles and all that stuff hes started saying things like he says mama when hes upset or i go out the room sometimes.. and he rambles on saying loads of baby talk as they call it lol.. but i have mason everyday anyway my dad works from 6am-5pm mon-fri but when he gets home my son seems to go... "dada" and he is meaning dad/daddy and its really upsetting me :( we call my dad "grandad/grandpa but hes not going to learn that till hes speaking properley, i just wanted to know if anyone else has been in this situation or its happened with them :( i know its because my dads around all the time but it just really does upset me this is another reason why i was trying so hard to find my own place even if ill struggle i dont want his first word to be dad/daddy cause hes not his dad and even if he sees him as a dad hes not cause thats just really wrong and it crindges me :( (if that makes sense to anyone)

I know really all i can is keep saying grandpa to him so he gets used to it or like a shorter version that he can say easier.. but aswell my dad iv realised doesnt say to him no its grandpa when mason says dada :\ and iv told him to so he understands abit and hes said before like "come to your dad" and then after goes "i mean grandpa" maybe he gets mixed up but its not doing any good i dont think :(

Doesnt help mason doesnt see his dad hasnt for 2 months now as hes not contacting me back or anything :\ and mason wont have a clue who he even is last time he saw him he just looked at him blank and cried soon as he came to me he stopped :\

xx

i had this aswell, when i had my first daughter we stayed with oh parents and when my jordane was at the babbly stages she called her dad and her grandpa dada....i was freaked by it at first but as soon as she stared talking preoperly she called them by there proper titles, i wouldnt worry too much about it just now but i would imagine how cringe worthy it would be if it happened in public, just keep doing what your doing everytime mason says it and correct him he will soon learn the right name to call his grandpa and get your dad to reinforce it aswell, jordanes grandpa didnt but i sure did!! x

i wouldn't worry hun he's prolly just can't say grandpa yet... he will in time but i can see why u find it weird xx

Was in the same situation with my LO. Only bothered me because I knew people thought she was saying 'daddy' but she wasn't. Babies find 'da' easier to pronounce than 'ma' and other expressions. It's just them learning to speak.
