Hi ladies,

So I am 6+1 today and all day I have been cramping. AT about 3pm I started having a niggling in my left hand side, almost like a stitch, really low down that has been getting worse as time goes on...

My mum wants me to call NHS24 in case its an ectopic but I feel silly calling with a pain in my side, I'm not doubled in two, but its definitely got worse over the last few hours :( ...

Have any of you ladies had anything similar?

could be round ligament pain, sounds similar to what i had.. does your hospital have an early pregnancy unit? id try and find out if your unsure..

as i rang my hospitals EPU and they really helped me out, even booked me in for an early scan for my peace of mind :)

if in doubt, ring, its better to be told everythings ok than risk it not. they expect these sorts of calls :flower:

Thanks hun, I have no idea if my local hospital have or not. I will see if I can find out!

I had it on both sides, it could be ligaments stretching although I heard the left side is where your colon is so could be a bit of trapped gas.

Thanks hun. i'm not sure what it is. Its not trapped gas though as I suffer from IBS and trust me I know what trapped gas feels like  :haha:

Its the fact its just on one side that worrying me. Keep going to the toilet to check for blood.

Jeeze, thought second pregnancies would be less scary.... its not turning out like that. :nope:

Yes. I had quite severe pain down in my left hand side, near my groin where my ovary sort of is located. It was quite bad one night that the pain started shooting down my leg and I was very close to going into Hospital as I thought of Ectopic Pregnancy. I was about 4-5 weeks at that stage. I rang NHS direct and they said that If I get bleeding and searing pain in my shoulder tip to go to A&E straight away. Next day the pain started to subside but was still a mild pain in my side, yet no bleeding. I went to the doctors who did a blood test to measure levels of HCG (pregnancy hormone) told me to go to hospital if pain got worse until they took the next blood results to see if HCG levels had risen. HCG levels do not rise as much if your Pregnancy is ectopic so this would be a warning sign for a doctor. I was okay though and levels were good. Within about a week, the pain subsided and I went back to Docs who said that because I had previous surgery for endometriosis in that spot it was just being sensitive and aggravated by the pregnancy. I have no pain at all there now.

My advice to you - Feel a little positive if there is no blood. See if the pain subsides when you get up / sleep etc, go to Doctors and ask for HCG test. If you are convinced this pain is too bad to ignore then get yourself straight to the Hospital. You are pregnant with pain in left side, they take this seriously and you are not wasting their time at all, better to be safe than sorry okay? PM me if you want to ask anything else, I have been through this and know exactly how you are feeling right now.

Hope things work out for you sweetie xxx

...Meant to also say Lisa that it also felt to me like I had a really painful stitch, as you described. Have you had any previous surgery or injury in that spot?

Thanks honey.

No I haven't had any previous surgery etc on that area.

It took me 2 years to fall pregnant and I am really worried. :( . Will give it some time and see how it goes. If it gets worse I might call NHS24 and see what they say.

Just called NHS24 as pain getting worse all of a sudden. Waiting on them calling back :(

They still haven't called and i've just had some spotting, not a lot, just a couple of spots literally but soooo worried

I had a similar thing with my daughter but all was fine, never found out what it was.

How are you now?

Worried sick. Pain still their, a little worse but not a great deal worse, but the spotting is worrying me, I actually feel sick now. Hubby wants me to call NHS24 back... :(

Aw hun, try not to worry. I know that's easier said than done though. I would call them back to see what's going on, it might just be that they have a long wait to speak to a nurse or doctor. With my first I had a similar problem and had an early scan and HCG blood tests. All turned out to be fine and apparently I had a tiny harmless cyst on one of my overies that was causing the pain and it wasn't affecting the baby at all. So please try not to worry, it may be nothing to worry about. Give them a call back and see what's happening and try and rest x

Sweetheart, stressing and getting upset over this with no answer about it yet is no good for you or the baby , maybe take a trip to your doctors or the Hospital first thing in the morning to put your mind at rest? Everyone should understand how you are worried, so don't think you are fussing over nothing because you are not. My Doctors were great when I was fussing and asking them to tell me if things were okay, that's their job.

Big Hugs :hugs:
