Hi, I saw a thread about hep c on here but didn't notice one about b which I think maybe slightly more common, I'm not sure.....
Anyway, ignore my ticker, I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and so far have put out of my mind any risks that might come with carrying baby when I have chronic hepatitis b. It was diagnosed this time last year after a brief seperation with my husband and stupidity of jumping into bed with the first person who was nice to me:dohh: Have had it for over 2 years now but so far am not on any medication as levels were low when they last checked.
The midwife has just said I will be under consultant care and the baby will be vaccinated at birth which has about a 90 percent success rate apparently...
They have said I can still breastfeed but have decided that maybe that might not be a good idea as my nipples bled rather a lot with my son (luckily did not have then:thumbup:) so that thought upsets me a little:cry:
However, I guess my biggest concern is that baby doesn't contract it during birth because the immunisation isn't 100 percent effective and what if it gets it from the placenta while I'm pregnant??
Am quite scared about it all when I sit and think but I would never consider not having this child because it deserves a chance.
Do any of you ladies know of any success stories or have hep b yourselves and can help me think more positively about things??? Would be grateful to hear from you. :flower: Thankyou, Amy x

am sorry i have no experience regards this, i hope someone comes along who can help you hun xxxxx

Thanks Mrs Roughton, I really hope so too. I know it's my fault for getting it in the first place, I'm trying to look forward to the future with my family but just feel like crying. (not that that does any good either) x
