Hey all!

So I was induced on Wednesday morning. My little man, Theodore, is absolutely amazing!

I went in at 7 am and they broke my water at 8 am, we then found out there was mecconium in the amniotic fluid, which was pretty disappointing because we were planning a water birth and that just wasn't safe enough with the mecconium being present. Nothing was really going on so I took a shower. Once I got out - boom - the contractions were about 2-5 mins apart. They stayed that way and at about 11:30 I hit transition. I sat on the birthing ball most of the morning, had lavender aroma therapy and worked on breathing techniques. All of a sudden it was time to push! As I began my midwife noticed that something was in the way but wasn't exactly sure what it was. I switched positions multiple times, attempting to push whatever it may be out of the way. After 45 mins of back to back contractions, major pushing and a lot of needed oxygen I was in agony. As soon as I was at the point of saying I couldn't do it, his hand (that's what was in the way!), stopped clinging to me and he began to crown. I had an epidural with my daughter and I had never experienced a feeling like this before. I truly thought i was going to pass out and as everyone told me I wasn't going to I gave one last push and he was out!

Then came the scary part. Baby was doing great but for some reason my placenta was not coming out. I had two shots of pitocin, had my midwife massaging my abdomen and tried to push for about 25 mins before they called up the ob doctor. She came in and attempted to get my placenta out. It was still attached to the uterine wall and for some reason was stuck behind my pelvic bone. She got half of it detached and after another 10 mins the rest came. All of a sudden I was gushing blood and lost about 900 CC's in 5 minutes. Everything was a blur and I was crying to my OH for it to end. I didn't know what was going on and then I was flipped onto another bed and rushed to the OR. Next thing I knew the anesthesiologist was telling me that he was going to give me a spinal block and put me to sleep. As soon as he said that I was waking up in the recovery room. Turns out the bleeding wasn't stopping so they had to put their arms (literally up to their elbows) inside of me and rub along the lines of my uterus. I had several blood clots that were about the size of a cantaloupe. After that was done my bleeding stopped and blood pressure rised to normal in about an hour or so.

I missed my daughter meeting my son for the first time and I didn't get to hold him for 4 hours after he was born. Thankfully, I am doing better now and he is doing AMAZING! He is incredible and so worth it. :)
