My baby boy Zachary arrived on Saturday 11th January 2014 (his due date!) at 12.22am, weighing 7lbs6oz and measuring 53cm long. And he's perfect.
Quick labour story: contractions started on Wednesday afternoon, and were coming every 4-5 minutes, so I went up to the hospital only to be told I wasn't dialated at all, so they sent me home. Contractions continued all day Thursday and on Friday I woke up at 4am and couldn't bare the pain any longer, so we went to the hospital again. I was 2cm on arrival, but they decided to keep me in because they discovered he was back to back (ouch!). I was made to walk round the hospital area to try and turn him, which unfortunately failed. By 12.30 midday I was 4cm, and around 6pm I was at 7-8cm. I don't really remember much from there due to exhaustion and the effect gas and air had on me, but by around 9.30pm it was time to push. I was too late for an epidural so had to do it all on just gas and air alone. Due to the little monkey being back to back, I ended up pushing for 2.5hours, and towards the end his heart rate dropped scarily low and they gave me 5 minutes to push him out before they intervened with forceps- but thank goodness I didn't need that in the end because as the doctor entered the room, his head had crowned. He was born at 12.22am and I'm totally in love with him. It was 100% worth it and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
