Hi 2nd tri! + anyone else due late December? + NT scan result

Hi everyone,

I am very relieved and excited to now be in the second trimester of my first pregnancy!

I had my nuchal translucency scan this morning and the scan operator told me the risk factor is normally low at 1 in 1,800 for my age group (around 24 years old) but after the scan she personalized my risk at only 1 in 21,000! I am so happy and relieved. She couldn't quite guess at the gender as the "nub" was somewhere between angle wise but her first reaction was
"hmm it is quite vertical" so I am thinking boy - we would be thrilled!

Are there any other Mama's due around late December? My due date is 29 December

Glad your scan went well! I had my NT scan too, similar results except she wouldn't make a gender guess because she said it's too early but definitely didn't see anything vertical this time!

Haha hey pregnancy twin! Yeah I think it's definitely hard to tell, she tried to guess but at the end she said it was too close to really tell and it would be better to wait for a later scan. Glad your NT results were good too!

Lol yes I can imagine you'd be hoping to not be 2 days late! On the bright side at least if it does work out that way its a pretty incredible Christmas present for you and your family

Hello fellow pregnancy buddies!! I'm due December 26th. I had my NT scan on Friday and my results came back perfect too. They said the fluid needs to be less than 3mm and that mine was less than 1mm. They called me today and said I have a 1/10,000 risk of Trisomy 13, 18, and 21. There was no mention about the nub or anything to indicate the gender yet. I posted pics of my ultrasound on here to see if anyone wanted to make a guess based on skull or nub theory. Did you guys post yours?

I too am hoping to be home for Christmas and that the baby comes early. I have some back issues and my pelvis is tilted so I most likely will be scheduling a c-section. My doctor said if I deliver early, by 37 weeks, I should be able to do a vaginal birth no problem because the baby will be smaller. But if I go past that then we will have to schedule a c-section. So, I guess that means I should be able to deliver on a date that gets me home for Christmas. Or at least I hope so!

I'm due Christmas Day, although as its a section it will be sometime before. Ideally I'd love Christmas eve, but doubt I'll get that. They didn't manage to get a good NT scan so I'm going to have to do a quad test in a few weeks, but that's fine. I had one with DS as NT screen wasn't around when I had him.

Glad to hear it sounds everyone is doing well.

jrob - my scan operator only talked about the nub as we asked if she could guess we're pretty impatient! I would've posted my scan by now but they gave us just a disk - I thought that's okay, I don't need prints because I can just pop them right on the computer. But the disk case is sealed with a sticker saying "only to be opened by referred doctor" so now I am thinking I am not allowed to open it??? Bit confusing and annoying!
What are the guesses on yours leaning towards? What is your guess?

mummy2o - Wow being due Christmas day is pretty magical! Good timing when everyone will be on holidays. Yes I've heard NT scanning is quite recent practice!

Exciting! I've heard a few mama's due that date It's funny, I'd kind of like to be a few days late to make it into January. I'm sure however it happens we'll be happy though!

Yes I think there's lots of Mum's due around our time hoping that won't happen - I certainly hope I'm not 4 days early and give birth on Christmas! This is my first pregnancy but I've heard from others that your first is more often a week or so late, but it sounds like you can't really generalize things like that as every ones experiences are so different!
