Hi ladies, i am a performing arts tutor for adults with disabilities, but because of goverment funding cuts, i no longer have my job, which to be honest is fine because its a risky job when you pregnant and my oh has been working extra hours so that i dnt hve to work there when im pregg (he was too worried about me working there) however i dont know anythinggg about benifits?!? Any info? Xx

Morganlove!!!!!!!!!! You're here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooohooooooooooo!!!!!! I take it you don't need my crystals then??!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

I too am unemployed and have no idea about benefits. I have been to my jobcentre because I am signing on and they have beem useless so far.

Xx

congratulations!
As far as benifits go...it depends on your OHs income. If it is low then you can apply for working tax credits (or well your dh can)
good luck x

Hello :)

https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/index.htm

The link above will give you information about what benefits your entitled too and what you can receive while pregnant.

Hope this helps

If you have made enough NI contributions (which you will have done as you have been in employment) you will be entitled to claim the contributions based rate of Jobseekers Allowance, regardless of your husband's income. You will get this for six months I think. Obviously you will have to give them at least the impression of actually seeking work while you are pregnant.
However, if you don't work then you won't get enough qualifying weeks during your pregnancy to claim Maternity Allowance when the time comes. Perhaps you could do some temping in the meantime so you get enough payslips to claim this, as it will be worth £100 a week to you for nine months.
As your household income will have gone down, you should be entitled to an increase in your working tax credits.
