Hi I had my beautiful baby 2 days ago by csection and my worse nightmare has come true. She fed for an hour right after she was born and does decent on the mornings but afternoon she does not suck. I have met with two lactation consultants the hospital provides and they both said she latches correctly and technique and my biology are perfect for breast feeding. She loves being on nipple but sucks for a second then gets frustrated because nothing comes out...or not much. She was born8lbs1 ounce and 2 days later she is 7 lbs5 ounces! The dr wont release me until I give her formula which I did. Of want to to but at the same time I don't want her to starve" we think the problem is tht I am. Of producing enough colostrum for her...what should I do how easy is it to give formula for a day or two until my milk comes in the exclusively breast feed. Im so upset iT is horrible

Their tummies are tiny at this stage, tbh that doctor is a twit. You don't HAVE to give formula at all, they can't make you and I would lodge a complaint if you're upset about it. New babies are often unsettled in a lot of ways and are brand new to BFing so they can sometimes take a while to become efficient at it :hugs:

I agree you don't need formula after only 2 days and I don't know why they weighed your baby sO soon. My mw said they used to weigh before 5 days but found it just made bf mothers want to give up. My milk came in on day 3 and before that he was only doing the odd suck, please don't give up if baby is hungry and latched they would suck more.

Thanks for all the reassurance...last night another nurse came in and helped me for like an hr...she said my baby puts her tounge in front of the nipple instead of underneath which makes her frusturated so she will stop or cry. Even though I don't have flat nipples she gave me a nipple guard a nd it has helped so far, still not perfect though but def. helped. Hope this lasts!

Glad to hear it take all the help they offer. X
