:hi: Hello, I am Natalie. I have 3 boys ages 9,6,5. My husband and I recently decided to try for another child and we found out we were pregnant on May 1st. Yesterday I started to bleed, and thought maybe it was from my pap I had on Tue, and it wasnt :( We went to the ER and they did a ultrasound and there was nothing in my uturus. The only thing they could tell me was it was thick like it was ready for a pregnancy or I had a mc. :( They checked my HCG level and I was a 3, so I lost our lil bean  This was so shocking for us, we thought we were for sure in the clear because we had never had a issue before. The good thing is once I am finished bleeding we got the ok to start trying again, but it is a little scary to think this could happen again. Has anyone else had experience with ttc after a mc, and was it succesful?

Hi Natalie, welcome to BnB, and I'm sorry for your loss.

I have two boys, 5 and 2. We found out in October we were pregnant and shortly after I started bleeding. Because of the way the hCG numbers were rising, the dr. suspected it was an ectopic pregnancy. I received a Methotrexate injection in November and my hCG numbers were back to 0 mid-December. We decided to TTC again in March, which was an early miscarriage. Thank goodness, it ended on its own. After this happened, I decided to contact a fertility specialist to see if there was anything we could try to improve the situation. I felt that something was just "off" with me -- my hormones maybe. I just couldn't understand why this was happening. Just like you, both my pregnancies for my boys were easy and uneventful, and I did not expect this to happen once, much less twice. The FS did a bunch of tests, including an HSG to check that there was no damage to my tubes. Now I'm on my first cycle of Clomid + Progesterone, hoping that we can be successful this time!

I don't mean to scare you -- the chances are very high that you can be successful after a miscarriage. Just wanted to give you an idea of how my TTC journey has gone so far. Miscarriage is never a good experience, but it is a positive thing that you can TTC again right away. Some people have to wait 3+ months depending on what treatment they received and when AF comes again. It is normal to be scared to try again, but eventually, we just push through the fear and expect that everything will go as expected next time. I wish you the best of luck TTC again after a MC!
