Hey everyone, I went to see the midwife today and everything went alright apart from my blood pressure. She rang the maternity hospital and I have an appointment to go in for observation at 5:30pm today because it's high.
At my midwife appointment this morning it was reading at 160/102 and I was just wondering how severe that is? is it really bad? does anyone else have any experience with high blood pressure during pregnancy and know if I should be concerned about preeclampsia with readings like that or if that's only slightly high?

Any advice would be appreciated! I'm trying not to worry atm but obviously I don't want my little one having to be born at 30 weeks 10 weeks early :(

Hi,

I was monitored for high BP in my last pregnancy. The number they are interested in is the bottom figure. They don't like it going over 90.

Mine was between 93 and 95. It just meant that they started taking my BP more often. In fact the midwife would come round to my house to take my BP and test my urine.

I was also reminded of pre-eclampsia symptons.

When they first picked the High BP up it was when i had self-referred myself to the hospital as i thought i hadn't felt baby move. It was only because i had a consultants appointment a few days later that they let me go home.

Take care,

Marie

Hi, in my first pregnancy my blood pressure was exactly the same as yours (and it is rather on the high side) at 30 weeks and I was just monitored closely as also had protein in urine. I was in and out of hospital as had lots of pther preeclamptic symptoms (protein, swelling, headaches) and was finally induced at 37 weeks. They will keep a close eye on it hun and jsut keep an eye out for other symptoms and let them know if you have any. Am sure all will be fine.

xxxxx

it is a little high but they will monitor you, i was diagnoised with pre eclamsia @ 20 weeks and have been on medication since
