hi all merry xmas.x.

just a quick question i'm having baby #2 and suffered with high blood pressure from 30 weeks causing a 3 day stay in hospital when i was having my DD.

i saw my consultant yesterday and he as told me that i need to see my midwife every week from 28 weeks to have my blood pressure and baby checked in case it happens again.

i was just wondering if anyone else has had to do this as my midwife is not going to be a happy bunny when i tell her lol she was already complaining how busy she is due to a baby boom when i last went.

Yes - me!! I had PE in first pregnancy at 38 weeks. Second pregnancy they put me on bp tablets about 23 weeks (my son was born at 27 weeks due to non bp related problems). This time I was about 31 weeks.

Long story short I was admitted on a monday - held overnight till mid afternnon the tuesday... for failing to meet gct twice and high bp. Thursday had consultant app (pre arranged) and was borderline bp 130/90 then 150/90 (although bottom figure had been higher on the monday). Midwife out to see me sat (per consultant inst) bp 160/100.. in to DAU and put on bp tablets with a BP profile done over an hour. Back sunday for another bp profile. Back to DAU monday for another profile - then discharged back into community. Had to see my midwife, wed, frid in clinic - no appoints friday so she had to see me extra early! and then one the next wednesday and now weekly.

My midwife didn't want to see me the friday as once on the tabs all was o.k but as it was in my notes the consultant wanted to see me friday she had to do it.

It is very important for them to keep an eye on it (previous to this I was having itchecked with the nurse at the surgery for my peace of mind) but now they want the midwife to do it (she will also do a urine check each time). If they say you need it midwife has to do it no matter how busy she is - don't worry that is there issue not yours.

Hope all goes o.k

i saw my mw last week, she went through my notes with er from my last preg, im seeing consultant on the 30th 28 weeks, she said going on my history i should be getting weekly bp checks and if they dont do it at the hosp she will see me in the clinic each week instead.
i think its just to be on the safe side and for peace of mind xx

I got told I had high bp today 133/97 and was told that ive got to go back to get it checked in a week and if it's still high then I've got to go get it checked weekly too. :-( x

Hi, i have been monitered weekely since 20 weeks usually between 80-90 on bottom. Today i had a growth scan and saw the consultant it was 96 so i have been put on a low dose of Labetol fingers crossed this will sort the problem out back next week to b checked. xxxx

I had to get mine checked daily from 25 weeks and they didn't mind at all, they said it was better to be safe than sorry. It was just a case of hooking me up to a monitor in the corner and leaving me to it, then coming and checking the readings after half an hour or so.

Hope everything's ok - it is important that they keep an eye on you if you have high BP.

xxx

I'm the same, having to have mine done every other day at the moment. I am getting my GP nurse to do it as it's easier to get booked in with her then the midwife. I have also been put on labetalol (sp??).

It is really important to keep it checked, so forget the MW moaning, it's tough luck xx
