Hello all!

I have just been prescribed metaformin, clomind and provera yesterday by my GP it has been confirmed I have PCOS....no shock there I knew it for a while.

We have been ttc for around 3 years and NTNP for a year before. I am very overweight! I have an active job and go to the gym 4 times a week, both myself and OH have active lifestyle's. We have been eating really well since Jan but I am not losing any weight! The Dr has said the metaformin will help but I just feel so down! I keep thinking am I even going to get a BFP being the size I am now?? I just feel so negative, I want this more than anything but have this feeling that maybe it wont ever happen, I know I'm young and have plenty of time....maybe I'm just having a bad week :sad2:

I am on Metformin too and need to lower my BMI, currently 37,

Good luck and keep an open mind hun

I have pcos too and am overweight. I tried metformin and it didn't really help and I felt too sick on it.

One thing that has worked for me (I have lost 45 lbs) is going to weight watchers. I don't know if you have ever tried it but even though I used to eat quite healthy you will still be surprised by some things and honestly I know that this has made the difference. What truly proved it to me was a co-worker and I joined the gym together and we were going 5-7 days a week to very intense classess (burn 1000 cals) and I was dropping weight and she was maintaining and even gaining although she eats even healthier than me. The difference I was following weight watchers. She decided to join eventually and has now lost 30+ lbs. Portions really matter and some things that we think are healthy are not always as healthy as we thought.

I know this may not be what you are looking for, but after 4 years ttc for me, and now having iui and maybe ivf, losing weight is very important I feel.

Best wishes on your journey and I wish you tons of success.

Hey hun - I have a BMI of 41 - missed two periods and was diagnosed with PCOS. Was prescribed provera and metformin and fell pregnant that cycle after nearly 5 years of trying so don't give up!
Wishing you a BFP very soon! x

Thanks for the reply's everyone! :flower:

Wow Sarah! that's amazing, that is like my dream come true! best of luck with your pregnancy :D

Yep - I still can't believe it myself cos when I had the internal ultrasound it showed both ovaries covered in cysts.........I think the provera flushed everything out and also that month I didn't really think about making a baby with my OH as I thought there was no chance.
Shows that it can happen...........and it will happen for you too hun xxxx

I am overweight and have been trying to concieve for 5 years without any luck at all. I was prescibed metformin a few year ago with clomid but both of them together gave me leg cramps and so i had to stop them...
i have just finished 2 cycles of clomid 100mg and i did not ov and because im overweight im not allowed any more treatment under the nhs...hmm so yes i totally understand what you mean hun...just be strong...maybe very bad advice but have you tried Reductil...i used it a few times and lost loads of weight on it...im thinking of getting back on it....it def works...i know for a fact!!

Good luck xx

My bmi was about 30 when I fell pregnant with my son - that was with no medication, we were ntnp for nearly 3 years and i didn't know i had pcos then.

my bmi is up to 32 now so i need to get my fat arse in gear and do something about it. eventually....
